99 percent voter turnout in the presidential election

  • In the election for the 16th President of the country, Draupathi Murmu is the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance and former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha is contesting on behalf of the opposition parties.
  • Voting for this was held yesterday from 10 am to 5 pm. MPs and MLAs cast their votes in the presidential election through ballot paper. Polling was held in the Delhi Parliament complex for MPs to vote and in their respective state assemblies for MLAs to vote. Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote and started the polling at the polling center set up in the Parliament complex in Delhi.
  • Voting ended at 5 pm. 771 Members of Parliament and 4,025 Members of Legislative Assembly were eligible to vote. In this, the Election Commission announced that overall 99 percent votes were registered.
  • It has been reported that 100 percent voting was recorded in the polling held in 12 Legislative Assemblies including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka and Kerala.
Union Government Committee on Minimum Support Price
  • Farmers protested across the country against the 3 agricultural laws brought by the Union government. As a result, the Union Government withdrew those laws. So the farmers gave up the struggle and demanded that the minimum support price be guaranteed legally.
  • They also warned that if the government does not fulfill other demands including minimum support price, they will stage another protest. In this case, 8 months after the repeal of the Agriculture Act, the Union Government has set up a committee to study the Minimum Support Price.
  • In this, the committee formed under the leadership of former Agriculture Department Secretary Sanjay Aggarwal, includes various high officials including Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand, state officials of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and members of the Samyukta Kisan Morsa Sangh who led the farmers' protest.
Tamil Nadu Thirunal Festival 2022
  • Tamil Nadu Thirunal Festival was held today at Kalaivanar Arena, Chennai. Tamil Scholars were awarded and prizes were given to students in this function. A grand program called Tamil Nadu Thirunal was held at the Kalaivanar Arena in Chennai to commemorate the 18th day of July when the resolution was passed in the Assembly by the Reverend Anna Anna to name our state as Tamil Nadu.
  • The first program of the festival was the Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Committee, Dr. J. Jayaranjan presided over the seminar.
  • Prof. Subh. Mr. Veerapandian, on the topic 'Mozhiwari province and the struggle in Tamil Nadu'. Azhi Senthilnathan, Mr. Valasa Vallavan also spoke on the topic 'Danayan who gave name to the motherland'. Dr. Raasendran also spoke on the topic 'Modern Tamil Nadu created by Muthamizharinagar artist'. Ezhilan also commented.
  • Also, Tamil Theral for the year 2021 Mr.V.G.Award Mr. Kayal (Co) Dhinakaran and Kapilar Virudhu Bhawalar Karumalai Tamilazhan (A) Ki. Narendran and the U.V.S.A. Award for the year 2021 Dr. Kalaikovan, Amma Literary Award to Dr. M. Chargunavathy, Karaikal Ammaiyar Award to Dr. R. Tilakavathy Shanmugasundaram also presented them.
World Cup Shooting - Indian bronze
  • India's Anjum Mutgil wins bronze in World Cup shooting. Also, he achieved the record by holding the number 1 position in the chart. Anjum won bronze in the women's 50m rifle event at the World Shooting Championships in South Korea.
  • Anjum Mudkil scored 586 marks in the qualifying round for ranking round. He finished third in the ranking round with 402.9 points. Earlier, Anjul Mudkil had won silver in the World Cup Shooting event held a few months back.

  • NITI Aayog and World Food Program will launch initiatives to popularize grains grown in Asia and Africa tomorrow (19.07.2022) through video presentation.
  • This includes the exchange of methods and practices for the cultivation of cereals on land. The NITI Aayog and the World Food Program are to prepare the details of production volume and consumption of grains in India and abroad.
  • Nidhi Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Peri will inaugurate the programme. Member Prof. Ramesh Chand and Advisor Dr. Neelam Patel, World Food Program representative Bisho Barajuli, Joint Secretary Ministry of Agriculture Subha Thakur will preside over the event.
For 5 years for Bolivuru Cities Project Rs. 48,000 crore as financial assistance from the Central Government
  • On 25th June 2015, the central government launched the Bolivuru Cities Project. From January 2016 to June 2018, 100 Bolivar cities were selected through 4 rounds of competition. As per the Bolivuru Cities Scheme guidelines, the central government will provide a financial assistance of Rs 48,000 crore over five years. An average of Rs. 100 crore will be given.
  • As on July 8, 2022, the central government has released Rs.30,751.41 crore for 100 modern cities. Out of this, 90% amount of Rs.27,610.34 crore has been utilized. Out of which Rs.4,333.87 crore was given to Tamil Nadu, Rs.3,932.06 crore has been utilized.
The Prime Minister was addressing the 'Swavlamban' seminar of Naval Innovation and Self-Reliance Organization
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the 'Swavlamban' Seminar of Naval Innovation and Self-Reliance Organization in New Delhi.
  • The Prime Minister also launched the 'Sprint Challenges' program to encourage the use of indigenous technology in the Indian Navy. Speaking then, he said that in the 21st century, the policy of self-sufficiency is very important in the Indian defense sector.
  • Minister of State for Defense Mr. Ajay Bhatt, Secretary of Defense Department Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R. Harikumar, Vice Commander of Naval Operations Vice Admiral S. N. Kormate and others participated in the event. The seminar is held for two days.
