Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray resigns
- Maharashtra is governed by Shiv Sena in an alliance of Nationalist Congress and Congress parties. Uddhav Thackeray is the Chief Minister. This coalition government has been ruling for the last two and a half years. In this case, many Shiv Sena MLAs have come out against Uddhav Thackeray on the last 20 days.
- The disgruntled MLAs are mobilizing under the leadership of Shiv Sena chief minister Eknath Shinde. They are insisting to form government in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party.
- In this case, the Governor issued an order to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to prove his majority in the Assembly today. The Shiv Sena filed a case in the Supreme Court challenging the Governor's order. The Supreme Court allowed the trust vote to be held as per the Governor's order.
- Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray tendered his resignation shortly after the Supreme Court's order. He wrote to the governor that he did not want to face the trust vote in the assembly and also sent his resignation letter. The Governor also accepted his resignation letter.

The MoU was signed in February 2022.
