Gold for Jyoti and Abhishek in World Cup Archery

  • The World Cup Archery Stage 3 Series is taking place in Paris, France. In the final round of the Compound Mixed Teams Division, Abhishek Verma of India and Jothi Sureka played against Jean Polch and Sophie Dodemon of France.
  • Abhishek and Jothi won the gold medal with a score of 152-149. This is the first gold medal India has won in the mixed doubles category at the World Cup.
Bank Loan Companies - Leading Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Maharashtra
  • According to credit information agency CRIF, High Mark, these three states are the largest lenders. About 64 percent of the total debt comes from these three states. The government had announced that it would facilitate credit facilities to such companies to recover from corona vulnerabilities and achieve economic growth.
  • According to the data, companies from five districts, namely Mumbai, Mumbai suburbs, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore, have been using credit facility more and more. Loans from these five locations accounted for 56 per cent of the total debt.
  • The districts of Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Lucknow are leading in terms of number of borrowing institutions. Data also shows that Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan are at risk in terms of debt repayment.
  • Total credit disbursements increased by 5 per cent to Rs 37.29 lakh crore in the previous fiscal, up 5 per cent from the previous fiscal. Moreover, the average debt during the last financial year was Rs 72.4 lakh.
  • Data also shows that 70 per cent of loans to micro, small and medium enterprises are disbursed by private banks.
Chief Minister MK Stalin launched the college dream project across Tamil Nadu
  • Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the 'College Dream' program at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, which will guide higher education to 12th grade students under the 'I am the first' project.
  • Halls have been set up on behalf of the Department of Higher Education, Directorate of Technical Education, Anna University, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Tamil Nadu Veterinary Science University, Tamil Nadu MGR University, College Directorate and Tamil Nadu Skills Development Corporation. HCL A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the company and the Tamil Nadu Skills Development Corporation in the presence of the Chief Minister.
GST Compensation Chess Collection Extension till March 2026
  • The GST compensation was due to end on the 30th day of the chess collection. However, due to the deficit in revenue during the last two financial years and the repayment of purchased loans, the Federal Ministry of Finance has ordered to extend the collection of compensation cess till 2026.
Regulation for Bharat New Car Assessment Scheme
  • The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notification dated 24 June 2022 to add a new rule 126E to the Federal Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 in connection with the Bharat New Car Assessment Scheme. The following features will be added to this new rule: -
  • This applies to the approval of locally produced or imported M1 motor vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tons. The quality of such vehicles shall be in line with internationally standardized standards: beyond the minimum regulatory requirements.
  • The Bharat New Car Assessment Program will cover the extent of safety features provided to the user of the vehicle in the categories of (a) Adult Passenger Protection (AOP) (b) Child Passenger Protection (COP) and (c) Safety Cooperation Technologies (SAT). Such vehicles will be given a star rating of one to five, depending on the rating given in the various tests carried out according to Vehicle Industry 197.
  • Vehicle testing for this project will be carried out at testing agencies with the required structural facilities.
  • Effective Date: 1 April 2023
