National Conference for Ministers of Education - Government of Tamil Nadu boycott
  • In Gujarat, a two-day conference for education ministers at the national level, chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, will be held on Wednesday (June 1) and Thursday (June 2).
  • Education Ministers and officials from all states in India, including Tamil Nadu, were invited by the Central Government to attend the conference. At the Education Ministers' Conference to be held in Gujarat, issues like new national education policy and development of school structures will be discussed.
  • Further, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is in consultation with the Education Ministers present at the conference on the implementation of the new education policy. In this situation, as the first day of the conference was held today, the Tamil Nadu government has boycotted the conference. No one from Tamil Nadu participated in this conference.
  • Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Ponmudi and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyamozhi did not attend the conference. Also, none of the education secretaries on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government attended the conference.
GST collection in May 2022 was Rs 1.41 lakh crore
  • Last May, GST collection stood at Rs 1.41 lakh crore. This is an increase of 44% compared to May last year. In May last year, the collection was 97 thousand, 821 crore rupees. However, compared to last April, it was lower.
  • 1.68 lakh crore last April, a record high. In the previous March, it had collected Rs 1.42 lakh crore. As far as tax collection is concerned, GST has crossed Rs 1.40 lakh crore in May for the fourth month in a row since its introduction.
Tamil Nadu has the highest number of temples in India - Mumbai IIT study
  • Mumbai IIT students conduct a study on temples in the country. It is said that there are more than 79,154 temples in Tamil Nadu. It is followed by Maharashtra with 77,283 temples, Karnataka with 61,232 temples, West Bengal with 53,658 temples and Gujarat with 49,995 temples.
  • It is said that there are 103 temples per 1 lakh people in Tamil Nadu and 62 temples per 1 lakh people in Maharashtra. According to the tourism officials of the Tamil Nadu government, the results of this study will be an opportunity to focus on temples and attract tourist sites.
