Conference of Chief Secretaries 2022

  • The three-day conference of Chief Secretaries on behalf of the Union Finance Commission began at the PCA Grounds in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh. The country's 100th Independence Day is set to be celebrated in 2047. Vision plans for this are to be defined at the conference.
  • The conference will also focus on the implementation of the National Education Policy, urban governance, self-sufficiency in crops, oilseeds and pulses production.
  • The conference will also discuss the environment for starting a business, ensuring that government programs reach the masses, improving the country's infrastructure through the Prime Minister's Rapid Energy Program, improving backward districts and strengthening ties between the central and state governments.

US provides Rs 915 crore for epidemic study in India
  • The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sponsors studies around the world, including infectious disease control. The Center has announced financial assistance of Rs 915 crore to three Indian companies for research, including epidemic prevention.

  • For the two states, an additional Rs 1,043.32 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund, Rajasthan - Rs 1,003.95 crore and Nagaland - Rs 39.28 crore.
  • This additional funding is higher than the funds already allocated to state disaster relief funds by state governments. For the financial year 2021-22, the National Disaster Relief Fund has provided Rs 17,747.20 crore to 28 states and Rs 7,342.30 crore to 11 states.
