Booker Prize for Hindi Writer Gitanjali Sree
- Geetanjali Sri (64), a Hindi writer, wrote the novel 'Ret samadhi' (Ret samadhi) in the year 2018. The novel was translated into English by Daisy Rockwell under the title 'Tomb of the Sand'.
- In 2021 the translated novel was nominated for this year's Booker Prize. It is also the first selected novel in Indian languages.
- The novel 'Red Tomb' is a story set in a family during the Indo-Pakistani partition. The story is set around an 80-year-old woman who lives after her husband dies. A total of 135 books were considered for the current 2022 Booker Prize. The last 6 of them were selected books. Among them is the Booker Prize for the novel 'Tomb of Sand'.
- Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022, India's largest drone festival, is being held in Delhi for two days.
- The drone festival was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. He also visited demonstrations of drones. The Prime Minister also held discussions with drone pilots and start-up executives to help agriculture.
- The Women's Football League series took place in India. A total of 12 teams participated. Each team clashed with the other teams once. At the end of 10 matches Gokulam Kerala and Madurai Sethu teams were in the 'Top-2' with 30 points with 10 wins each.
- The last match between the two teams was played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar (Odisha). In the end, Kerala won 3-1. This was followed by 33 points to take the top spot in the standings and knock off the Champions Trophy for the second time in a row. Kerala also qualified for the Asian Club Championships for Women.
- O. Pragyananda, India's youngest Grandmaster, defeated world number two and Chinese Ding Liren (29) in the final of the Chessable Masts Online Chess Tournament. Pragyananda lost the first set 1.5 - 2.5 at midnight on Wednesday, Indian time.
- However, they won the second set 2.5 - 1.5 at midnight on Thursday. Thus the 2 Game Blitz 'tie-break' method was manipulated to determine the winner. The first game ended in a draw, and the second game ended in a victory for Ding Liren with 49 wins.
- The Central Government has approved the new guidelines for the Small & Micro Enterprise Package Development Plan implemented during the Fifteenth Fiscal (2021-22 to 2025-26). The objective of the scheme is to increase the competitiveness and productivity of SMEs by undertaking the following activities:
- Rs 5 crore to Rs. The central government subsidy will be 70 per cent of the project cost up to Rs 10 crore and Rs 10 crore to Rs. 60 per cent of the project cost up to Rs 30 crore. The subsidy for northeastern and hilly states, archipelagos and districts seeking development is Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 80 per cent of the project cost up to Rs 10 crore and 70 per cent of the project cost between Rs 10 crore and Rs 30 crore.
- The government has also fixed a subsidy for the construction of new industrial estates / apartment complexes.
