Manik Saha elected new Chief Minister of Tripura

  • Manik Saha has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Tripura. Biplob Dev has abruptly resigned ahead of next year's assembly elections in Tripura.
  • Biplob has said he resigned to join the party in the run-up to the election. Manik Saha has been elected as the Leader of the Legislative Assembly at a subsequent meeting of the BJP Legislative Assembly.
  • The change of chief minister took place in Tripura a year before the election. The party leadership has led the change as many Tripura BJP MLAs have raised the banner against the BJP. Manik Saha, a dentist, was elected a member of the state assembly last month.
International Women's Tennis Tournament in Chennai
  • The International Women's Tennis Tournament will be held at Nungambakkam, Chennai from September 26 to October 2. Chief Minister Stalin handed over the policy level approval letter of the Government of Tamil Nadu to the President of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association Vijay Amirtharaj.
  • Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Meyyanathan, Chief Secretary His Excellency, Youth Welfare, Sports Development Secretary Apurva, Tamil Nadu Sports Development Commission Member Secretary Ira Anandakumar, Special Officer for Chess Tournament Dr. Thares Ahmed, All India Chess Federation President Sanjay Kapoor, Secretary Bharat Singh Chauhan was also present.
Sheikh Mohammed appointed President of Emirates
  • Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed, 73, the former president of the United Arab Emirates, died yesterday due to ill health.
  • Following this, the Emirates Governing Council meeting took place yesterday at the Abu Dhabi Palace. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed Al Nahyan, 61, was elected President of the United Arab Emirates. He also served as King of Abu Dhabi.
Chess Olympiad - Memorandum of Understanding signed in the presence of the Chief Minister
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Tamil Nadu and the All India Chess Federation on the hosting of the 44th Chess Olympiad - 2022 today at the General Secretariat in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
  • For the first time in the history of India, the 44th Chess Olympiad - 2022 will be held in Tamil Nadu. The competition will be held in Mamallapuram from 28.7.2022 to 10.8.2022. More than 2000 chess players from 186 countries internationally will take part in the tournament.
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu and the Chess Federation of India today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the tournament to be held at the historic Mamallapuram.

Mission Sagar IX
  • Under Mission Sagar IX, the ship sailed to Port Victoria, Seychelles from 11 to 14 May, as part of the shipment of the Indian Navy ship Carrie into the southwestern Indian Ocean. Following a proposal from the Seychelles government earlier, three ceremonial firearms, along with ammunition, were delivered to the Seychelles security forces by ship.
  • Indian Ambassador to the Seychelles General Talbir Singh Suhag formally presented these to Defense Chief Brigadier Michael Rosette at an event aboard the INS Charcoal on May 13. During the ship's stay in Seychelles, the Indian Navy trained Seychelles personnel in specific maritime fields.
  • Admiral R Hari Kumar, Commander of the Indian Navy, is on an official visit to Seychelles from 21 to 23 April, on an official visit to Suk. Before reaching Port Victoria, the ship sailed to Colombo, Sri Lanka, and to the Maldives to deliver essential medical supplies.
