G-20 Conference of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors
- The G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Conference was held in Washington, DC. Speaking at the Indonesian-led conference, Nirmala Sitharaman said: "The G-20 countries need to work together to tackle challenges, including rising inflation, and improve their economic prosperity.
- International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Giorgio said the Indian economy is expected to grow by 8.2 per cent this year. This is more than double China's 4.4 percent growth. International economic growth will slow to 3.6 percent from 6.1 percent. It is commendable that India is experiencing the fastest economic growth in the world.
- The 12th National Senior Men's Hockey Championship was held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from the 6th to the 17th of this month. With 27 states participating in the tournament, the Tamil Nadu team advanced to the final after 22 years.
- Haryana played a multi-match series in the final. At the end of regulation time both teams were tied 1-1. Thus the tie-breaker method of determining the winner was followed. Haryana beat Tamil Nadu 4-2 in tiebreaker to clinch the title.
- Speaking at a function in Delhi on the eve of the 15th Civil Service Day yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, The Golden Jubilee of Indian Independence is not just about celebrating the last 70 years. The last 70 to 75 years, we may have passed as usual.
- But the next 25 years will not be regular. During those 25 years, maintaining the unity of the country was the main responsibility of the civil service authorities. In this we cannot compromise. Whatever decision we take, it should not be an obstacle to the unity of the country even at the village level.

- The United States Government has selected 5 of the leading companies in the production and design of drones in the country The Takasha Committee of Anna University, Chennai has been selected for the project of manufacturing drones on demand basis in collaboration with the United States Department of Civil Aviation to receive government subsidy.
- Also selected is Juppa Geo Navigation Technologies, a Chennai-based manufacturer of components for drones.
