  • The Union Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was held in Delhi. Approved to continue the National Rural Sovereignty Plan until 2026. The project paves the way to create villages with improved livelihoods, hygienic and child-friendly environment.
  • The project will also help in establishing drinking water facilities, greenery, self-sufficient infrastructure, social security, development and good governance in the villages. The total financial cost of the project is Rs 5,911 crore.
  • Of this, the central government's share is Rs 3,700 crore; The share of state governments is Rs 2,211 crore. Across the country, 60 lakh elected representatives, activists and other stakeholders in rural local bodies will be the direct beneficiaries of the scheme.

  • The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the use of land acquired under the Coal Mining Act 1957 with a view to utilizing practically impossible land for mining or mining coal and increasing investment to create employment in the coal sector.
  • This policy will categorize development work on non-mining land and the construction of structures related to coal and energy projects. This law categorizes the areas where the coal mine is located to be freed from predators.

  • The Central Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Manitoba Security Commission of Canada.
  • The Memorandum of Understanding seeks a formal basis for cross-border cooperation in the regulation of securities and facilitates mutual assistance, contributes to the efficient functioning of supervisory functions, enhances technical knowledge and enables effective enforcement of laws.
  • It also helps in the rules governing bond markets. The MoU will enable Manitoba-based investors to register with SEBI. Companies located in the Canadian province of Manitoba want to register as a foreign equity investor in SEBI. This deal will lead to that.
Union Cabinet approves Memorandum of Understanding on Indo-Japan Cooperation in Decentralized Sewage Management
  • The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Water Resources of the Union Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment of the Government of Japan on cooperation in decentralized household wastewater management.
  • A management committee will be set up to implement this MoU. The group will develop comprehensive activities related to cooperation and monitor its progress. This agreement with Japan will be very useful for the efficient use of purified water using decentralized domestic wastewater management and Johkasou technology.
  • The agreement will also facilitate the treatment of wastewater collected in residential areas, under the Jaljivan movement, for purification and freshwater use. It will also help urban local bodies to carry out advanced planning for wastewater treatment.
