  • நாட்டில் 2011 - 19 காலகட்டத்தில் தீவிர வறுமையின் அளவு 12.3 சதவீதம் குறைந்துள்ளதாக உலக வங்கி கூறி உள்ளது.
  • இதுதொடர்பாக உலக வங்கி தரப்பில் சமீபத்தில் வெளியான அறிக்கை:இந்தியாவில், 2011ல் தீவிர வறுமையின் அளவு 22.5 சதவீதமாக இருந்தது. 
  • இது, 2019ல் 10.2 சதவீதமாக குறைந்துள்ளது. இதேபோல், 2011 - 19 காலகட்டத்தில், கிராமப்புறங்கள் மற்றும் நகரங்களில் வறுமை நிலை முறையே 14.7 மற்றும் 7.9 சதவீதம் குறைந்துள்ளது.

  • The World Bank estimates that extreme poverty in the country fell by 12.3 percent during 2011-19. According to a recent World Bank report, the poverty rate in India in 2011 was 22.5 percent.
  • This is down from 10.2 percent in 2019. Similarly, during 2011-19, poverty in rural and urban areas declined by 14.7 per cent and 7.9 per cent, respectively.
  • In rural areas, the poverty rate in 2011 was 26.3 percent. This is down from 11.6 percent in 2019. The rate of poverty reduction in rural areas is higher compared to urban areas during this period.
  • According to the study, small and marginal farmers with small tracts of agricultural land have higher income growth.
  • Their annual income has increased by 10 per cent during the period 2013-19, compared to the country's overall annual growth rate of 2 per cent.
  • Meanwhile, a recent report by the International Monetary Fund states that poverty in India has been virtually eradicated
