Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Tami and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have been elected

  • A meeting of MLAs to elect Goa Chief Minister was held at Panaji. Among those present were BJP central observers Narendra Singh Tomar and L Murugan, Goa Election Commissioner Devendra Patnaik and state president Sadanand Sheth Dhanwade.
  • At the meeting, Pramod Sawant was unanimously elected Goa Chief Minister for the second time. Pushkar Singh Tami of the BJP, who was the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, lost the recent elections.

"Nansei Vari, Punchai Vari" - 17th century tax inscription found in Madurai
  • While conducting a field study of the Nayakar period inns near Maruthangudi, they came across information that there was an inscription of the Nayakar period in the area and examined the inscription on the banks of the Somikulam Kanmai in the village. In that study the carving was 4 feet high, one foot wide and had 24 lines on both sides.
  • The inscription mentions the name of the town and the name of Somikulam Kanmai and states that two types of taxes were levied on the same land in the area as Nansei tax and Punchai tax during the dry season when the arable lands are highly cultivated and during the dry season. Investigators say the Kasataya family was ordered to pay the tax, and that the inscription was dated to the 17th century, the Nayakar period.
