Akane Yamaguchi wins All England Open - Women's Singles
- Japan's Agane Yamaguchi has won the women's singles title at this year's All England Open Badminton Series in England. In the final match which lasted for 43 minutes, he defeated the South Korean player AN Seyoung. He won the match 21-15, 21-15 in straight sets.
- The 24-year-old Yamaguchi has previously won 12 gold medals. In the past 2021 he had won the World Championship title.
- Laxmia Sen of India and Victor Axelsen of Denmark meet today at the All England Open Badminton Championships in Birmingham, UK. In this, Indian player Laksaya Chennai defeated Victor 21-10, 21-15. He is the fourth Indian to enter the men's singles final.
- He is followed by India's Prakash Nath, Prakash Padukone and Pullela Gopichand in the final. Only Padukone and Gopichand have the distinction of being the only Indians to win the series. Padukone won in 1980 and Gopichand in 2001.
- A meeting of BJP MLAs to elect a new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand is being held in Dehradun today. It will be chaired by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who will elect a new chief minister.
- Byron Singh was elected Chief Minister for the 2nd time at a meeting of the BJP Legislative Assembly in Imphal, Manipur yesterday.
