The NEET Exemption Bill was forwarded to the Governor

  • After the governor sent back the NEET exemption bill passed in September last year, the legislature convened a special session to re-pass the bill. People's Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian introduced the NEET Exemption Bill.
  • Following that, legislators spoke in support of the bill. After proposing the bill, the Chief Minister addressed the need for NEET's exemption. Following this, the Speaker announced the adjournment of the House without setting a date. The NEET Exemption Bill was then handed over to the House of Governors at 5.30 pm.

Exports of cereals will increase as Indian exporters find new markets
  • India is the 5th largest exporter of cereals globally. India exported US $ 26.97 million in 2020-21.
  • Global cereal exports increased to US $ 380 million in 2019 and US $ 402.7 million in 2020.
  • The United States, Russia, Ukraine, China, the Netherlands, France, Poland and Argentina are the major exporters of cereals.
  • Countries like Nepal, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are the major importers of cereals from India. India is also a major exporter of cereals to Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Yemen, Oman and Algeria.
  • The top 10 countries imported US $ 22.03 million worth of cereals from India in 2020-21. Other countries import $ 5.13 million.
  • The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has announced facilities for Indian exporters to sell cereals in new markets. Abeda has been facilitating Indian exporters to export cereals to new markets.
