12th Aegis Graham Bell Awards

  • The Telematics Development Center (C-DOT), the federal telecommunications research and development center, won three awards at the 12th Aegis Graham Bell Awards today via video.

‘Dharma Guardian-2022’ Joint Military Training
  • The Indian and Japanese Armed Forces are conducting a joint exercise called 'Dharma Guardian - 2022' at a foreign training terminal in Belgaum, Karnataka from February 27 to March 10.
  • The exercise has been held annually between the two countries' armies since 2018. In joint training with foreign troops. ‘Dharma Guardian’ joint training is important.

Signing of Mutual Option Agreement between Indian Navy and HAL
  • The Indian Navy and HAL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24 February 2022 between the Naval Institute for Aeronautical Technology, Kochi and the HAL Management Academy, Bangalore.
  • This partnership will lead to the development of trainees' skills in conducting aviation technologies and short-term and long-term courses in maintenance, repair, reconstruction, and management, including honorary lectures, workshops and conferences.
Government of India approves ₹ 250 crore worth of waste disposal in Rajasthan
  • The geographically largest state of Rajasthan, spread over an area of ​​3.4 lakh sq km, shares its ancient relationship with nature with the Aravalli Range, Bharatpur's Keoladio National Park, Ranthambore National Park and the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve.
  • 4,800 metric tons of solid waste is generated per day in 198 urban local bodies across the state. Only 28% of this waste is scientifically processed.
  • The Clean India Movement-Urban 2.0, launched in conjunction with the Amrut project, was launched on October 1, 2021 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The aim is to achieve the goal of ‘garbage-free cities’ through sustainable sanitation and scientific waste processing.
  • The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has encouraged the state by approving projects worth ₹ 250.15 crore submitted by the state to address more than 45.5 lakh metric tonnes of genetic waste in 24 cities.
UN resolution against Russia fails
  • Attempts to bring a resolution against Russia to the UN Security Council have failed. Russia has used its veto power to defeat a resolution against it.
  • Eleven countries supported the resolution brought by the United States and Albania. India, China and the United Arab Emirates abstained from voting against Russia.
Secretary of the Union appointed as the first High Court Judge in the country
  • For the first time in the country the Union Legal Secretary has been appointed High Court Judge. Anoop Kumar Mendirata, former Union Legal Secretary, has been promoted to judge of the Delhi High Court.
  • Recently the Supreme Court collegium had recommended the name of Anoop Kumar. When Anup was appointed Legal Secretary, he was a Judicial Officer in Delhi.
  • Apart from Anoop Kumar, Nina Bansal Krishna, Dinesh Kumar Sharma and Sudhir Kumar Jain have also been promoted as Delhi High Court judges.
The central government has released Rs 267 crore to Tamil Nadu urban local bodies
  • The Central Government had suspended the subsidy to local bodies as local government elections were not held in Tamil Nadu.
  • In this situation, elections for 12,607 wards in 21 corporations, 138 municipalities and 489 municipalities in Tamil Nadu were held in a single phase on the 19th.
  • Following this, the central government has released Rs 267 crore to the urban local government. It has been suggested that 50 per cent of this amount should be used for drinking water and 50 per cent for waste management.
