Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of Dayanand Sports University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for setting up the Major Dayanand Sports University at a cost of Rs 700 crore.
- The university is located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh in memory of Major Dayanand, who is famous for his hockey game. Thousands of men and women graduate here every year. The university is expected to train 1,080 athletes (540 males, 540 females) annually.
- World class modern facilities will be set up here. The university campus will also have a modern synthetic hockey field, football field, basketball, volleyball, handball fields and kabaddi field.
- Syriam has been conducting a survey of airports that have performed well under various categories over the past year. Japan's Itami Airport tops the list with 96.51 percent.
- The list includes only one airport from India. Chennai International Airport is ranked 8th in this list. According to Siriam, 98.32 per cent of the flights at Chennai Airport were operated on time.
