Chief of Army Staff Pipin Rawat killed in helicopter crash
- An army helicopter suddenly crashed while flying in the sky on Vampire Hill near Coonoor. The crash happened at 11.20am today, just 5 minutes before landing at the Coonoor Wellington Training Center from the Sulur Air Force Base in Coimbatore at 12.20pm.
- Fourteen people were on board, including Bipin Rawat, the commander of the three forces. An official announcement has been made that 13 people, including Pipin Rawat and his wife, were killed in the helicopter crash.

- The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today approved the implementation of the Prime Minister's Rural Housing Scheme (PMOY-G), a concept of the Central Rural Development Department, from March 2021 to March 2024.
- The scheme is being extended to meet the target of 2.95 crore houses to be completed under the scheme. Rs 2,17,257 crore is required to complete the remaining 155.75 lakh houses. - As of 2020-21, the total cost of the Ken-Betwa merger project is estimated at Rs 44,605 crore. The Union Cabinet has approved Rs 39,317 crore for the project, of which Rs 36,290 crore will be in grants and Rs 3,027 crore in loans.
