Tamil Nadu ranks 15th in list of states with highest number of beggars - Government of India

3 Agricultural Laws Repeal Bill - Approved by President Ramnath Govind
  • Farmers have been protesting for the past one year against three new agricultural laws introduced by the federal government. Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced that he would withdraw these laws.
  • Accordingly, after the winter session of Parliament began last Monday, the bill to repeal the three agricultural laws was tabled by the Minister of State, Narendra Singh Tomar. With a voice vote, a majority of MPs voted in favor of repealing the bill. Subsequently, the bill to repeal agricultural laws was passed in both houses of parliament.
  • The bill was subsequently sent to the President for approval, and he approved it. Thus, all three new agricultural laws have reached the stage of being officially repealed.
Paperless Administrative Procedure - Government Order for Posting on 'Digilocker'
  • The federal government is implementing a system where every citizen of the country can download his or her documents and certificates digitally from the Digilocker processor without having to go to the relevant offices.
  • To encourage the practice of paperless administration, all states are advised to use the Internet in Digilocker mode. Accordingly, in the Digilocker system, all Government Offices and Universities in Tamil Nadu are recommended to the Government of Tamil Nadu by the Executive Director, Tamil Nadu E-Governance Agency.
  • His recommendation has been scrutinized by the Government of Tamil Nadu and ordered to register all government offices and universities in Digilocker mode. This system will enable the citizens of the country, from any corner, to get all the documents including their vehicle license, mark sheet, ration card, voter ID card, certificates.
  • Therefore, all government offices, such as government offices, district collectors, district judges, and the High Court, must register with Digilocker. The Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency will provide the necessary technical support.
Breeding treatment bill passed
  • Reproductive technology medical centers are operating across the country to help infertile women conceive in an alternative way. Allegation arose that various medical centers were operating without proper permission. The federal government plans to set up assisted reproductive technology treatment centers.
  • In that regard, the Assisted Breeding Technology Regulation Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha last year. The bill was referred to the Standing Committee for recommendation. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha by voice vote after various recommendations of the Standing Committee were tabled last March.
  • The bill paves the way for the regulation and monitoring of assisted reproductive care centers, making maternity treatment systematic, safe and preventing misuse.
GST collects Rs 1.31 lakh crore in November
  • In November, the total GST collection was Rs 1,31,526 crore. Of this, central GST is Rs 23,978 crore, state GST is Rs 31,127 crore and consolidated GST is Rs 66,815 crore. The consolidated GST collection includes Rs 32,165 crore collected from imported goods. Similarly, Cess has collected Rs 9,606 crore. Of this, Rs 653 crore came from taxes on imported goods.
  • Last month's GST collection was about 25 per cent higher than the same month last year. In November last year, GST collection was Rs 1.05 lakh crore. Also, last month GST was collected.

  • The Latin American country of Honduras held presidential elections two days ago. Nasri Asfura ran as the presidential candidate on behalf of the ruling National Party and Siomaro Castro on the opposition Left Party.
