- 1971ம் ஆண்டு, அதாவது கிட்டத்தட்ட 49 வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு இந்திய கடற்கரையில் இருந்து சென்று பாகிஸ்தானுடன் போர் புரிந்து வெற்றி பெற்ற தினம் இன்று.
- இரண்டாம் உலகப் போருக்கு பின்பு மிகப் பெரிய கப்பற்படை தாக்குதல் நடைபெற்றது இதே நாளில் தான். 1971 வருடம் டிசம்பர் 3ம் தேதி இந்தியாவின் விமானப்படையில் தாக்குதல் நடத்தியது. அதன் விளைவாகத் தான் இந்தியா வங்கதேச போரில் ஈடுபட்டது.
- இந்திய விமானப்படை கராச்சியில் இருக்கும் மேற்கு கப்பற்படை தளத்தில் தாக்குதல் நடத்தியது. இதனால் பெரிய அளவில் சேதாரங்கள் ஏற்படவில்லை,
- ஆனால் அன்று இரவு, துறைமுகத் தாக்குதலை இந்தியா தொடங்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்த்தது பாகிஸ்தான் ராணுவம். இரவில் தாக்கி அழிக்கும் அளவிற்கு ராணுவ விமானங்கள் இல்லை.
- வித்யூத் க்ளாஸ் படகுகளுடன் தயாரானது இந்திய கடற்படை . பிபி யாதவ் காமண்டரின் தலைமையில் டிசம்பர் 4ம் தேதி தாக்குதலுக்காக கிளம்பினார்கள்.
- கராச்சியில் இருந்து 250 நாட்டிக்கல் மைல் தொலைவில் இந்திய கப்பல்கள் நிறுத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டன. பாகிஸ்தானின் ரேடார் சோதனைகளுக்குள் சிக்கிக் கொள்ளக்கூடாது என்பதற்காக சுமார் ஒரு நாள் முழுவதும் அதே எல்லையில் நிறுத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டது.
- வைஸ் அட்மிரல் ஜி.எம். ஹிராநந்தனி எழுதிய புத்தகத்தின் அடிப்படையில் பி.என்.எஸ் கைபர் போர் கப்பல் அன்றிரவு 10:40 வீழ்த்தப்பட்டது. அதே போல் முஹாபீஸ் போர்கப்பல் சரியாக இரவு 11.20 மணிக்கு வீழ்த்தப்பட்டது. அதன் பின்னர் மைனஸ் ஸ்வீப்பர் வீழத்தப்பட்டது.
- ஷாஜகான் என்ற போர்கப்பலும் பலத்த சேதாராத்தை சந்தித்தது. கராச்சி துறைமுகத் தாக்குதலின் விளைவாக 300 பாகிஸ்தானிய கடற்படையினர் கொல்லப்பட்டனர்.
- ஆப்பரேசன் ட்ரைண்ட் வெற்றி பெற்றததைத் தொடர்ந்து ஆப்பரேசன் பைத்தான் டிசம்பர் 8 மற்றும் 9ம் தேதி நடத்தப்பட்டது. இந்த வெற்றியினை கொண்டாடும் வகையில் தான் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் கடற்படை தினம் இந்தியாவில் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

- Navy Day in India is celebrated on 4 December every year to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country. Today is the day 1971, almost 49 years ago, off the Indian coast and won the war with Pakistan.
- It was on this day that the largest naval attack took place after World War II. The Indian Air Force was attacked on December 3, 1971. As a result, India became involved in the Bengal War.
- The Indian Air Force attacked the Western Naval Base in Karachi. This did not cause much damage. But that night, the Pakistani military expected India to launch a port attack. There are not enough military planes to attack and destroy at night.
- Indian Navy ready with electric class boats. Led by BP Yadav Commander, they launched an attack on December 4. Indian ships were docked 250 nautical miles from Karachi. It was parked on the same border for about a day so as not to get caught up in Pakistan’s radar tests.
- Vice Admiral G.M. According to a book written by Hiranandani, the PNS Khyber warship was shot down at 10:40 that night. As well as the Muhabbis warship was shot down at exactly 11.20pm. After that the minus sweeper was dropped.
- The warship Shahjahan also suffered heavy casualties. 300 Pakistani sailors killed in Karachi port attack. Operation Python was launched on December 8 and 9, following the success of Operation Train. Naval Day is celebrated in India every year to celebrate this victory.
- During the days leading up to Navy Day, during Navy Week and the days prior to that, various events take place such as an open sea swimming competition, ships are open for visitors and school children, there is a veteran sailors lunch, performances by the Naval Symphonic Orchestra take place, an Indian Navy Inter School Quiz Competition happens, a Navy Half Marathon as well as an air display for school children and the beating retreat and tattoo ceremonies happen.
