- வருடாந்திர எரிசக்தி பாதுகாப்பு விருதுகள், தொழிற்சாலைகள், கட்டிடங்கள், BEE நட்சத்திரம் லேபிளிடப்பட்ட உபகரணங்களின் உற்பத்தியாளர்களின் ஆற்றல் பாதுகாப்பில் புதுமை மற்றும் சாதனைகளை அங்கீகரிக்கின்றன மற்றும் ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு மூலம் புவி வெப்பமடைதலை குறைப்பதற்கான இந்தியாவின் பதிலில் ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு பெரும் பங்கு வகிக்கிறது என்ற விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது.
- ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு மற்றும் செயல்திறனுக்கான அவர்களின் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட அர்ப்பணிப்புக்கான அங்கீகாரமாகவும் இந்த விருதுகள் உள்ளன. இந்தத் திட்டம் தொழில்துறை மற்றும் பிற நிறுவனங்களை ஆற்றல் திறன் நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள தூண்டியுள்ளது.
- விருதுகள் முதன்முறையாக டிசம்பர் 14, 1991 இல் வழங்கப்பட்டன, இது நாடு முழுவதும் "தேசிய எரிசக்தி பாதுகாப்பு தினமாக" கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.

- ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்துவதன் மூலம் பங்கேற்கும் அலகுகளால் ஆண்டுக்கு சமமான தவிர்க்கப்பட்ட திறன் (mw) அடிப்படையில் மின் ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு கணக்கிடப்படுகிறது.
தேசிய அளவிலான ஓவியப் போட்டி 2021 ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு
- 2005 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல், எரிசக்தி திறன் பணியகம், பள்ளி மாணவர்களுக்காக எரிசக்தி பாதுகாப்பு குறித்த தேசிய அளவிலான ஓவியப் போட்டிகளை நடத்தி வருகிறது.
- இந்த ஆண்டு, போட்டிக்கான கருப்பொருள் ‘ஆசாதி கா அம்ரித் மஹோத்சவ்: எரிசக்தி திறமையான இந்தியா’ மற்றும் ‘ஆசாதி கா அம்ரித் மஹோத்சவ்: தூய்மையான கிரகம்’.

- It is observed on 14 December to raise awareness about the need for energy and its conservation in daily life. Since 1991, it is celebrated every year on 14 December by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power. Ministry of Power is celebrating the Energy Conservation Week from 8th to 14th December 2021 under "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav".
Objective
- The objective to celebrate the National Energy Conservation Day is to drive mass awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and conservation.NECD
Activities taken up
- BEE recognizes and encourages endeavours of industries in reducing energy consumption by felicitating them with National Energy Conservation Awards.
- BEE also awards prizes to the national winners of the annual National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation.
National Energy Conservation Awards
- The annual energy conservation awards recognize innovation and achievements in energy conservation by the industries, buildings, manufacturers of BEE star labeled appliances and raise awareness that energy conservation plays a big part in India’s response to reducing global warming through energy savings.
- The awards are also recognition of their demonstrated commitment to energy conservation and efficiency. The scheme has motivated industry and other establishment to adopt energy efficiency measures.
- The Awards were given away for the first time in December 14 1991, which is celebrated as “National Energy Conservation Day” throughout the country. Every year on 14th December, these Awards are given by eminent dignitaries of the Government of India to various sectors of the economy to recognize the exemplary efforts on Energy Conservation in the country by them.
- 17 sectors covering 5 categories - Industry, buildings, Transport, Instituions and Appliances are included in the Awards. Electrical energy savings is calculated in terms of equivalent avoided capacity (mw) per year by the participating units through implementation of energy saving projects.
- Beginning 2021, the Energy Efficiency Innovation Awards (NEEIA) under two categories - Category A - Buildings, Transport and Industries and Category B - Students and Research Scholars.
- The National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) are being given to the energy-intensive units of various sectors of the Indian economy for their exceptional achievements in reducing specific energy consumption. Whereas NEEIA is conceptualised to boost energy efficiency through innovative measures.
- The objective of institutionalising this award is to instil a sense of competition among industries and sectors to develop innovative energy efficiency measures in their facilities and also to disseminate these technologies to ensure their multiplicity and adaptation in other sectors.
National Level Painting Competition 2021 on Energy Conservation
- Ever since 2005, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency has been organizing National Level Painting Competitions on Energy Conservation for school children. This year, the theme for the competition is ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: Energy Efficient India’ and ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: Cleaner Planet’.
- The objective of the activity is to promote energy conservation in young minds of the country.
- The painting competition for students would not only make the students aware about the need of conserving energy but at the same time would sensitize and involve their parents as well in the above cause. This may inculcate a habit in the minds of young children towards energy conservation which may bring behavioral change among them.
