- லண்டனைச் சேர்ந்த பிஸினஸ் எகானமிஸ்ட் இண்டலிஜன்ட் யூனிட் என்ற ஆய்வு அமைப்பு, உலக நகரங்களை தரவரிசைப்படுத்தி ஆண்டுதோறும் பட்டியல் வெளியிட்டு வருகிறது.
- அந்த அமைப்பின் இந்தாண்டுக்கான உலகின் வாழ்வதற்கான செலவு மிகவும் குறைந்த நகரங்களின் பட்டியலில் இந்திய நாட்டின் சார்பில் அகமதாபாத் நகரம் மட்டுமே இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது.
- சிரியாவில் உள்ள டமாஸ்கஸ் நகரம் உலகிலேயே செலவு மிகவும் குறைவாக உள்ள நகரமாகும். இந்நகரம் அந்த நாட்டின் தலைநகரம் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. திரிபோலி (லிபியா), தாஷ்கண்ட் (உஸ்பெகிஸ்தான்), துனிஸ் (துனிசியா) மற்றும் அல்மாட்டி (கஜகஸ்தான்) ஆகிய நகரங்கள் முதல் ஐந்து இடத்தில் உள்ளன.
- ஆறாவது இடத்தில் பாகிஸ்தான் நாட்டின் கராச்சி நகரம் உள்ளது. ஏழாவது இடத்தில் இந்தியாவின் குஜராத் மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள அகமதாபாத் நகரம் பிடித்துள்ளது.
- அல்ஜியர்ஸ் (அல்ஜீரியா), பியூனஸ் அயர்ஸ் (அர்ஜென்டினா), லுசாகா (சாம்பியா) ஆகிய நகரங்கள் எட்டு, ஒன்பது மற்றும் பத்தாவது இடத்தை பிடித்துள்ளன.
- The London-based Business Economist Intelligent Unit publishes an annual list of cities in the world. Ahmedabad is the only Indian city on the organization's list of the world's lowest cost of living this year.
- The city of Damascus in Syria is the cheapest city in the world. The city is the capital of the country. The cities of Tripoli (Libya), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Tunis (Tunisia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan) are in the top five.
- In sixth place is Karachi, Pakistan. The city of Ahmedabad in the Indian state of Gujarat is ranked seventh. The cities of Algiers (Algeria), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Lusaka (Zambia) are ranked eighth, ninth and tenth.
