The book ‘Force in Statecraft’ - Publication by the Secretary of Defense

  • Defense Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar has published a book titled 'Force in Statecraft'. The book was written by Air Marshal Diptendu Chaudhary, Commandant of the National Defense College and Air Vice Marshal Dr. Arjun Subramanian (retd), President of the National Defense College.
  • The book covers articles on counter-terrorism operations, the conflict in the Northeastern states, Indian security aspects such as air power and nuclear weapons.
The central government has released Rs 8,453 crore to 19 states to strengthen health infrastructure in urban and rural areas
  • The 15th Finance Commission of the Union Ministry of Health has recommended the release of a total of Rs 4,27,911 crore to the State Governments during the financial year 2021-22 to 2025-26.
  • Of this, the allocation for the health sector is Rs 70,051 crore. Of this, the allocation for primary health care in rural areas is Rs 42,928 crore. The allocation for urban areas is Rs 26,123 crore.
  • Of this, Rs 488 crore has been earmarked for Andhra Pradesh and Rs 272.25 crore for Arunachal Pradesh. Bihar Rs. 1,116.30 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs 338.79 crore, Himachal Rs 98 crore, Jharkhand Rs 444.39 crore, Karnataka Rs 551.53 crore, Madhya Pradesh Rs 922.79 crore, Maharashtra Rs 778 crore, Manipur Rs 42.87 crore and Mizoram Rs. 31.19 crore, Odisha Rs. 461.76 crore, Punjab Rs. 399.65 crore and Rajasthan Rs. 656.17 crore, Sikkim Rs. 20.97 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs. 805.92 crore, Uttarakhand Rs. 150 crore and West Bengal Rs. 828 crore.
  • Out of the total allocation, Rs. 16,377 crore is for infrastructure facilities for diagnosis in primary health care facilities. The allocation for regional health centers is Rs 5,279 crore. Rs 7,167 crore has been earmarked for construction of buildings. Rs 15,105 crore has been earmarked for Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs).
  • Rs 2,095 crore has been earmarked for setting up diagnostic facilities at urban primary health centers. The allocation for welfare centers is Rs 24,028 crore. The Ministry of Health has allocated Rs 13,192 crore for the welfare sector for 2021-22. Of this, Rs 8,273 crore has been earmarked for rural areas and Rs 4,919 crore for urban areas.

  • The World Book of Records is headquartered in London. The Thirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam is featured in this book. On behalf of the Indian Division Chairman Santosh Shukla, its Deputy Secretary Ullah Gi presented the certificate to YV Subba Reddy, Chairman, Devasthanam Board of Trustees, Thirumalai.
  • The temple is featured in this record book due to the large number of people in Tirumalai Tirupati paying tribute, distributing more Laddu offerings, providing free food offerings to thousands of devotees daily, arranging crisis-free queues for the devotees, the walkway from Tirupati to Tirumalai and the service rendered to the devotees.
Indian elected member of the International Law Commission
  • The International Law Commission was established in 1947 to develop international legal definitions. Out of 192 members in this election, Professor Bimal Patel has been elected on behalf of India with 163 votes. Thailand received 162 votes, Japan 154, Vietnam 145 and China 142.
  • From January 1, 2023, Professor Bimal Patel will be a member of the International Law Commission for five years. He is the Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University and a member of the National Security Advisory Board of India.
