- நாட்டில் நிலையான வளர்ச்சி இலக்குகள் பின்பற்றப்படுவதைக் கண்காணிப்பது, மாநிலங்கள் மற்றும் யூனியன் பிரதேசங்கள் இடையே ஒத்துழைப்பு மற்றும் கூட்டு நடவடிக்கைகளை ஊக்குவிப்பது ஆகிய முக்கியப் பணிகளை மத்திய அரசின் 'நிதி ஆயோக்' மேற்கொள்கிறது.
- அந்த வகையில் முக்கிய நகரங்களின் முன்னேற்றத்தை மதிப்பிடும் நீடித்த வளர்ச்சி இலக்குகள் (எஸ்டிஜி) திட்டத்தில், 2021-ம் ஆண்டுக்கான மதிப்பீடுகளை ஜெர்மனியைச் சேர்ந்த வளர்ச்சி நிறுவனம் ஒன்றுடன் இணைந்து நிதி ஆயோக் வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
- சுகாதாரம், கல்வி, பாலினம், பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி, நிறுவனங்கள், பருவநிலை மாற்றம் மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு இலக்குகளில் மாநிலங்கள் மற்றும் யூனியன் பிரதேசங்களின் வளர்ச்சியை அளவிடும் அளவுகோலாக இந்த மதிப்பீடு பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
- இவ்வாறு வெளியிடப்பட்ட மதிப்பீட்டில் ஒட்டுமொத்த அடிப்படையில் கோவை நகரம் 73.29 மதிப்பெண் பெற்று நாட்டில் 2-ம் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளது. முதலிடத்தை 75.50 மதிப்பெண்கள் பெற்று சிம்லா பிடித்துள்ளது.
- திருச்சி நகரம் 70 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் 8-வது இடத்தையும், சென்னை நகரம் 69.36 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் 11-வது இடத்தையும், மதுரை 65.86 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் 26-வது இடத்தையும் பெற்றுள்ளன.
- மொத்தமாக 56 இந்திய நகரங்கள் இந்த மதிப்பீட்டுக்கான பட்டியலில் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
- அதே நேரத்தில், 'வறுமை ஒழிப்பு' என்ற பிரிவில் 87 மதிப்பெண்கள் பெற்று கோவை முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது. 80 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் திருச்சி, மதுரை நகரங்கள் 2-வது இடங்களில் உள்ளன. சென்னை 65 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் 10-வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது.
- 'உடல் நலம் பேணுதல்' என்ற பிரிவில் 71 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் கோவை 5வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது. தரமான கல்வி என்ற பிரிவில் 88 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் கோவை 3-ம் இடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளது. முதல் இரண்டு இடங்களைக் கேரள மாநிலம் திருவனந்தபுரம், கொச்சி நகரங்கள் பிடித்துள்ளன.
- பெண்கள், குழந்தைகளுக்கு எதிரான பாலியல் குற்றங்கள், பெண்களுக்கு எதிராக கணவர் அல்லது உறவினர்களால் ஏற்படுத்தப்படும் துன்புறுத்தல்கள் மற்றும் கொடுமைகள், பெண் கல்வி, பாலின பிறப்பு உள்ளிட்டவற்றை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு அடையாளப்படுத்தப்படும் 'பாலின சமன்பாடு பிரிவில்' 87 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் சென்னை 9-வது இடத்திலும், 86 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் திருச்சி 11-வது இடத்திலும், 82 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் கோவை 16-வது இடத்திலும், 71 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் மதுரை 41-வது இடத்திலும் உள்ளன.
- இயற்கை பேரிடர் பாதிப்புகளால் ஏற்படும் உயிரிழப்புகள், காற்றின் தரம், மத்திய அரசின் திட்டத்தின்கீழ் எல்இடி மின் விளக்குகளை விநியோகித்தல் ஆகியவற்றை உள்ளடக்கிய சுற்றுச்சூழல் நடவடிக்கைகளில் சென்னை, கோவை, மதுரை ஆகிய 3 நகரங்களும் 67 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் 18-வது இடத்தில் உள்ளன.
- தொழில், கண்டுபிடிப்புகள் மற்றும் உள்கட்டமைப்புப் பிரிவில் 70 மதிப்பெண்களுடன் கோவை நகரம் 4-வது இடத்தில் உள்ளது. இவ்வாறு பல்வேறு பிரிவுகளில் பெற்ற மதிப்பெண்களின் அடிப்படையில் நகரங்களின் 'ரேங்க்' பட்டியலிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Trichy city is in the 8th position with 70 marks, Chennai city is in the 11th position with 69.36 marks and Madurai is in the 26th position with 65.86 marks. It is noteworthy that a total of 56 Indian cities have been selected in the list for this evaluation.
- At the same time, Coimbatore topped the 'Poverty Alleviation' category with 87 marks. Trichy and Madurai are in 2nd place with 80 marks. Chennai is in 10th place with 65 marks.
- Coimbatore is ranked 5th with 71 marks in the 'Health Maintenance' category. Coimbatore is ranked 3rd with 88 marks in the category of Quality Education. The top two places are occupied by the cities of Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in the state of Kerala.
- In the 'Gender Equality' category, Chennai was ranked 9th with 87 marks, Trichy 11th with 86 marks and Coimbatore with 82 marks. Madurai is in 16th position and Madurai is in 41st position with 71 marks.
- Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai are ranked 18th with 67 points each in environmental measures including casualties due to natural calamities, air quality and distribution of LED lights under the Central Government scheme.
- Coimbatore ranks 4th with 70 marks in Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure category. Thus the 'rank' of cities is listed based on the scores obtained in the various categories.
