Southern Railway General Manager launches eco-friendly green locomotive

  • An eco-friendly and pollution control locomotive (Green 3.0) has been developed at the Chennai Kottam Chap of the Southern Railway. It can be converted to both power and battery. The first green double-track locomotive was ready on October 6 last year.
  • Subsequently, 4 more engines were converted to green mode in the hexagonal electric engine workshop. Southern Railway General Manager Jantamas inaugurated the operation of the Green Train locomotive, which is currently being developed.
  • This green train is capable of dragging 24 boxes on battery. Battery power lasts from three and a half hours to 4 hours. After this, it can be electrified and used. It is not only environmentally friendly but also cost effective.
Tata acquires Air India again after 68 years
  • Air India, a state-owned company, continued to operate at a loss of revenue. The U.S. government has since taken steps to sell the company over the past few years. Defeating SpiceJet, which participated in the auction, for Rs. Tata Sons has bid Rs 18,000 crore.
