Diaspora Tamil Welfare Board Organization - Announcement by Chief Minister MK Stalin

  • Our Tamils ​​are the race living in most of the countries of the world. Tamils ​​live in large numbers in more than 30 countries and in small numbers in more than 60 countries. Went to do business. Went to live. Went in search of jobs. Went to escape from the pirates.
  • They went to escape. Went to learn new places. Many like this would have had multiple motives. Such displacements have been going on for a long time. Wherever Tamils ​​live, Tamil Nadu is their home. It is the duty of the motherland not only to love them but also to cherish and protect them. 
  • The Government of Tamil Nadu has come forward to solve the problems of the Tamil people living in various countries and to provide assistance. The Overseas Tamil Welfare Act was enacted by the Union Government on March 1, 2011 to meet the psychological and diverse needs of Tamils ​​living in exile.
  • In this situation, the 'Diaspora Tamil Welfare Board' will be set up. The board will be made up of thirteen government and expatriate Tamil representatives. 5 crore will be created with the advance of the State Government as 'Diaspora Tamil Welfare Fund'.
  • 1 crore 40 lakh rupees will be allocated for capital expenditure and 3 crore rupees annually for recurrent expenditure on welfare schemes and administrative expenses. Database on Diaspora Tamils ​​will be established. Those who register with the board will be provided with an accident, life insurance plan and medical insurance plan, along with an identity card.
  • About seven lakh Tamils ​​have returned home due to the Corona epidemic. Many of them have lost their jobs and returned. In order to help them, a loan facility with a maximum subsidy of two and a half lakh rupees will be provided to those who have returned to Tamil Nadu to set up small businesses. Six crore rupees will be allocated for this.
  • Most of the expatriate Tamils ​​are eager to invest their savings safely in the homeland. To this end, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be established to create a conducive environment for them to make secure investments in government and industry.
Textile parks worth Rs 4,445 crore in 7 places in India - Union Cabinet approval
  • The Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of mega textile and readymade garment parks at 7 locations across the country under the 'BM Mitra' scheme. For this, Rs 4,445 crore will be spent in the next 5 years.
  • Private investment will also be allowed. This will increase textile production and lead to export growth. In addition, millions of jobs will be created. These large-scale textile parks are expected to attract a large number of foreign investment.
  • The government has set a target of raising $ 4,400 crore through textile exports in the 2021-22 financial year. Textile exports are targeted to reach $ 10 trillion in the next 5 years.
