The world's largest national flag was flown in Ladakh on Gandhi's birthday

  • The 152nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated across the country. In turn, the largest national flag ever woven by Khadar cloth by Indian Army engineers was flown in the Leh region of Ladakh yesterday.
  • At 225 meters long and 150 meters wide, it is the largest national flag in the world. The total weight of this flag is 1000 kg.
  • Ladakh Deputy Governor R.K. Mathur unfurled the national flag. A large number of soldiers took part in the event in the presence of the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, Manoj Mukund Narawane, and hoisted the tricolor.

  • In the women's team finals, India's Arieba Khan, Raisa Dhillon and Kanimat Sekan won gold by beating Italy's Tomiana Pavlocci, Sarah Pongini and Kiata Longi. The Indian team scored a total of 6 points.
  • Similarly, in the round for the bronze medal in the Ottawa category, the team comprising of Rajvio Gill, Ayush Rudraraju and Abhay Singh Sekan of India - defeated Ali Khan Arafasi, Ahmed Baran and Mohammad Cheyenne Gaya of Turkey. The Indian Ottawa team also captured 6 points.
  • At present, India is 2nd in the medal tally with 7 medals, 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. The United States tops the list with 7 medals, including 3 gold.
New record in sugar exports - ISMA
  • During the 2020-21 marketing season, which ended last September, the country's sugar exports rose by 20 per cent to a record high of 71 lakh tonnes. This achievement is possible due to the increase in demand in the international market and the financial assistance of the government.
  • During the 2019-20 market season (October-September), sugar exports were only 59 lakh tonnes. Sugar production is expected to remain at 3.1 crore tonnes in the 2021-22 marketing season, which began on Friday.
  • The total sugar reserves of the property are estimated to touch 3.95 crore tonnes, compared to the previous stock of 85 lakh tonnes. At present, domestic demand for sugar is estimated at 2.65 crore tonnes and exports at 60 lakh tonnes. 
  • At the end of the current market season, the sugar reserve is estimated at 70 lakh tonnes. India has been a major producer of sugar for the last 10 years. In terms of ethanol production, its annual production capacity in 2018 was 350 crore liters. 
  • It is expected to reach 1,400 crore liters by 2025. Isma has set a target of using 60 lakh tonnes of surplus sugar for ethanol production by 2025.
'Gorilla Surrounded by Butterflies' - Selected as the best photo in the world
  • Corona has released selected images from a global photo contest hosted by The Nature Conservancy after the crisis delays. The Nature Conservancy is a global nature conservation organization operating in 72 countries and hosts an annual photo competition. More than one lakh photographs from 158 countries participated in the competition.
  • This photo, which won the grand prize, was taken in the dense jungles of Banga Hoko, Janga-Sanga in the Central African Republic. A photograph of a gorilla surrounded by butterflies taken by Anup Shah, a British photographer in the Central African Republic, has won the highest award at the Global Photography Competition 'The Nature Conservancy - 2021'.
  • The first prize winner will receive a camera set worth $ 4,000. Prizes and certificates were also given to the first and second place winners of each individual selected as the best photographers in the competition.
