NEET Exemption Bill

  • A panel headed by Justice AK Rajan, constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, examined the impact of the NEET examination and submitted a report. Based on this report, Chief Minister MK Stalin introduced the NEET Exemption Bill in the Legislature.
  • Chief Minister Stalin thanked Opposition Leader Edappadi Palanisamy for speaking in support of the bill. Following this, the NEET Exemption Bill was passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The bill was passed to conduct medical student admission on the basis of a Plus 2 score.
Compulsory Tamil language textbook in competitive examinations - Minister PDR Palanivel Thiagarajan
  • He said that the Tamil language course qualifying examination will be made compulsory in all competitive examinations for the recruitment of 100 per cent Tamil Nadu youth in all the posts in the Tamil Nadu Government Departments and in the State Public Sector Undertakings.
  • Priority will be given to youth who have lost both parents due to corona infection, first generation graduates and persons who have studied Tamil in government schools.
  • The minister said the direct appointment age ceiling would be raised to two years due to delays in competitive examinations for government jobs conducted by personnel selection agencies due to corona spread.
  • He also said that the quota for women in government employment would be raised from 30 per cent to 40 per cent.
Hitting targets up to 1500 km - North Korea missile test success
  • North Korea has successfully test-fired a long-range missile. According to reports, the missile will travel a distance of 1500 km before hitting the targets. The missile is said to be capable of striking large parts of Japan, a neighbor of North Korea.

  • The ICC has introduced a new award for the best player of the month. The ICC has announced that the award will be given throughout the year to players who have excelled in all categories of international cricket.
  • The ICC has released a list of nominees for the August Player of the Year award. In the women's category, KP Lewis, Emir Richardson and Nadaya were nominated, while in the men's category, Joe Root, Bumra and Shaheen Afridi were nominated.
  • England's Jor Root has been named the best player and Ireland all-rounder Emir the best player. Joe Root played brilliantly as 64, 109, 180 *, 33, 121, 21, 36 in the Test series against India. So he has been selected as the best player for the month of August.
