- 1900 இல் பாரிஸில் நடைபெற்ற ஒலிம்பிக் போட்டியில் இந்தியா முதல் முறையாக பங்கேற்று இரண்டு பதக்கங்களை வென்றது. இந்தியாவைப் போலல்லாமல் சீனா, 1984 லாஸ் ஏஞ்சல்ஸ் ஒலிம்பிக்கில்தான் முதன்முறையாக பங்கேற்றது. ஆனால் டோக்கியோவுக்கு முன்பாக, 217 தங்கப் பதக்கங்கள் உட்பட 525 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட பதக்கங்களை வென்றுள்ளது.
