Karnataka is the first state to implement a national education policy
- It was reported that the national education policy approved by the central government in July last year would be implemented across the country.
- In this context, the Government of Karnataka has announced that it will implement this education policy for the first time in its state. This information was given by the state higher education minister Ashwat Narayan.
- The 32nd Olympic Festival in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, kicked off on July 23. More than 11,000 athletes from 206 countries, including India, took part in the tournament. The Olympic Festival, which has been going on for more than two weeks, ended yesterday.

This is the first medal India has won in athletics in the last 100 years. Mirabai Sanu won silver in the women's weightlifting and Ravikumar Tahiya won silver in the men's 57 kg weight category.
- In women's boxing, Lovlina Borgohain, PV Sindhu and Bajrang Punia won bronze medals in the men's and women's 65 kg weight categories respectively. In men's hockey, India won the bronze medal after 41 years.
- This is the first time India has won more medals in the Olympics. Prior to this, India had won a maximum of 6 medals at the 2012 London Olympics.
- The closing ceremony of the Olympics took place at the National Stadium in Tokyo. Soldiers from various countries carried their national flags during the closing ceremony. Wrestler Bajrang Punia carries the tricolor flag of India.
- This was followed by spectacular art shows and fireworks. To mark the occasion, Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, handed over the Olympic flag to Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, who will host the 2024 Olympics.
- Coimbatore Railway Station has received the 'Platinum' certificate issued to the Green Railway Station for the first time by the Southern Railway. In 2018, the Ministry of Railways ordered all A1 grade and next level railway stations across the country to get green certification.
- Chennai Central, Egmore, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Coimbatore railway stations are under A1 standard.
- In this situation, the railway authorities took steps to get the green certificate for the Coimbatore railway station. As a result, green certification is now available.
- Accordingly, there should be permanent facilities for passengers at the railway station, including a rainwater harvesting system on the railway station premises, solar power generation, LED lights that save electricity on the walkways, fans, a sewage recycling center, and heat-reflecting paint on the roof. All these are at the Coimbatore railway station.
- A total of 3 types of ratings are given as 'Silver', 'Gold' and 'Platinum' according to quality. In it, Coimbatore Railway Station has got the 'Platinum' certificate for the highest rating. Coimbatore is the first railway station in the Southern Railway to be certified 'Platinum'.
- So far only 6 railway stations in the country have been certified 'Platinum'. Apart from Coimbatore, five railway stations in Secunderabad, New Delhi, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam and Asansol have so far received the certificate.
