City Gate Center for Gas Distribution in Chennai and Tiruvallur Districts, 25 CNG Stations Opened by Chief Minister Stalin
- Chief Minister MK Stalin yesterday inaugurated the Citygate station set up by Torrent Gas at Vallur near Ennore in Tiruvallur district and 25 CNG stations set up in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts at the headquarters. Torrent Gas has invested Rs 5,000 crore in a gas supply project in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts.
- This will provide employment to 5 thousand people. In the first phase of the project, the company has set up a city gate station on 1.4 acres at Vallur near Ennore in Tiruvallur district. It is planned to supply cooking gas through pipeline to more than 33 lakh households.
Basavaraj Bommai the new Chief Minister of Karnataka
- A meeting of BJP MLAs to elect a new Chief Minister following the resignation of Eduyurappa as the Chief Minister of Karnataka was held at a private hotel in Bangalore.
- At a meeting attended by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Kishan Reddy as top observers, Basavaraj Bomma, who was the Home Minister in the Eduyurappa cabinet, was elected as the new Chief Minister.
- Following this, Basavaraj, who accompanied Eduyurappa to the Governor's House, presented a toy and a letter of support from the BJP MLAs.
Thakaisal Tamil Award
- Chief Minister Stalin has ordered the creation of a new award called 'Thakaisal Tamilar' to honor those who have made great contributions to Tamil Nadu and the development of Tamil Nadu.
- He also directed to set up a committee headed by the Chief Minister, comprising the Minister of Industry, Tamil Language and the Chief Secretary to select the awardees.
- Each year, the Chief Minister will present a check for Rs. 10 Lakhs
6th century BC silver coin found beneath the sun engraved on both sides
- Phase 7 excavations are underway at Keezhadi, Agaram, Manalur and Kondagai near Thirupuvanam in Sivagangai district. Below 7, 8 pits have been dug, in Kondagai 5 and in Manalur 3 pits have been dug.
- Elderly minarets, skeletons, cisterns, three stone rows of terracotta brick walls, pots with lids, pottery tiles, pottery tiles with symbols, and food cups have been found in the area.
- A square-shaped silver coin has now been found, with a gold object already found at the bottom. The coin found below is engraved with the image of the sun, moon and animals on both sides. It must have been used as a stamp coin.

The International Monetary Fund estimates that India's growth in the current financial year will be only 9.5 percent
- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast India's growth to be only 9.5 percent in the current fiscal. It had earlier forecast growth of 12.5 per cent for the current financial year.
- The Reserve Bank also forecasts a 9.5 per cent growth in the current financial year. But the IMF has forecast that India will grow by 8.5 per cent in the next financial year (2022-23). It is noteworthy that in April last year, growth for the 2022-23 financial year was projected to be only 6.9 per cent.
Indian Digital Education - June 2020
- Various measures have been taken by the Union Ministry of Education to provide education to children affected by the corona epidemic.
- In particular, the Prime Minister's e-Vidya initiative was launched to provide digital education to children through online education and TV and radio. India-Russia joint military exercise
- Indira-2021, the 12th edition of the Indo-Russian joint military exercise, is scheduled to take place from August 1 to 13 in Valgograd, Russia. This joint exercise will lead to counter-terrorism operations against international terrorist groups as recommended by the United Nations.
- About 250 people from both countries will take part in the exercise. The Indian Army infantrymen underwent rigorous training in various parts of India to participate in this joint exercise.
- Indira-21 training will be instrumental in further strengthening the mobility and mutual confidence between the Indian and Russian armies and sharing the best practices between the Armed Forces of the two countries.
