Jupiter's moon exploration - NASA deal with SpaceX

  • NASA, the US space agency, has signed a deal with its private space agency, Space-X, to explore Europe, one of Jupiter's 80 moons. Space-X's Falcon heavy rocket will be used in the project to launch the probe to the moon in 2024 to find out if Europe is ready for life.
  • The 23-layer, somewhat reusable Falcon is said to be the most powerful rocket currently in operation in the world.
India supplies 100 metric tons of oxygen to Indonesia
  • The Irrawaddy ship, owned by the Indian Navy, reached the Indonesian port of Jakarta with Corona relief aid. The ship carried 100 metric tons of liquid oxygen and 300 concentrators in 5 cryogenic containers to Indonesia in the fight against corona.
  • The ship has been involved in humanitarian assistance and relief operations in the Indian Ocean.
India's first medal at the Olympics - Mirabai Sanu wins silver in women's weightlifting
  • In the women's 49 kg weight category, India's Mirabai Sanu Saikom (26) competed yesterday. He lifted 87 kg in the snatch and 115 kg in the clean and jerk at the end of the game.
  • He lifted a total of 202 kg and placed 2nd in the competition. Thereby capturing the silver medal. China's Hu Jihui won gold by lifting a total of 219 kg. He also set a new Olympic record by lifting 94 kg in the snatch.

  • Central Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has told the Lok Sabha that Public-Private Partnership (PPP) "Multi-Modal Logistics Parks" (MMLPs) will be set up in 35 cities, including Chennai and Coimbatore.

Rs 908 crore sanctioned to clean Tamil Nadu rivers
