News on Air 'Processor Ranking - Kodaikanal All India Radio Development

  • Hyderabad has overtaken Chennai to become the third most popular city in India in terms of popularity of All India Radio live broadcasts on News on Air. Pune and Bangalore are ranked 1st and 2nd respectively for the fourth consecutive week. While Jaipur has moved up to 8th position, Bhopal has slipped to 9th position.
  • Kodaikanal Radio has moved up from 10th to 8th position in the All India Radio rankings. Rainbow Kannada Commonwealth, in 4th place and Pune Radio in 5th place.
  • About 240 services of All India Radio are broadcast live on News on Air, the official operator of Prasar Bharati.
Mandatory Hallmark Scheme Implemented - Tamil Nadu First
  • Most of the districts in the states of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra are in the first phase of the program to make the hallmark of gold jewelery mandatory. There are a maximum of 24 districts in Tamil Nadu.
  • Since June 16, the federal government has made it mandatory for gold jewelry to be hallmarked. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been issuing hallmarks on gold jewelery since April 2000. According to the World Gold Council, India imports 700-800 tonnes of gold annually.
Imposition of import duty on cotton
  • The Indian textile industry is based on cotton. Cotton is the source of 80 per cent of the country's textile exports. Although India is a world leader in cotton production, the unavailability of long fiber cotton and the availability of highly polluted cotton pose a major challenge to the Indian textile industry.
  • In this context, the Federal Government's Financial Statement for 2021-22 imposes a total import duty of 10 per cent on cotton, including 5 per cent "import tax" and 5 per cent on "agricultural infrastructure development tax".
Modi launches Rs 1,100 crore projects in Gujarat, including railway station and aquaculture museum
  • The existing railway station in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, has been renovated at a cost of Rs 71 crore. A 5 star hotel has been set up at the top of the station in Andhra Pradesh to attract tourists.

The country's first food grain ATM in the state of Haryana
  • For the first time in the country, the Haryana government has installed an automated ATM for dispensing food grains in Gurugram. The Haryana government has launched a program to provide food grains through automated machines to avoid long queues at fair price shops and provide the right quantity of food grains.
  • The project to set up this automated food grain distribution machine has been implemented under the United Nations' Global Food Program. As an initial test initiative, the Annapurna Automated Food Grain ATM has installed a set of ions at the Farooknagar Fair Price Shop in Gurugram. This food grain ATM machine is capable of delivering up to 70 kg of grains in 5-7 minutes
Reliance bought shares in Just Dial
  • Reliance Retail Ventures has acquired a 40.95 per cent stake in Just Dial for ₹ 3,497 crore. It also said it would buy a further 1.17 crore shares, or 26 per cent, of Just Dial.
  • However, VSS Mani, who is currently the Managing Director and CEO of Just Dial, will continue in the same post, Reliance said in a statement to SEBI.
Follow '4-D' to control daily increase in infection - Modi advises 6 states
  • Prime Minister Modi held consultations with the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra and Kerala through video conferencing. Modi spoke to them:
  • We are currently in the midst of speculation that a 3rd wave of corona infection may arise. Your 6 states account for 80 percent of the total number of cases in the country.

  • States can receive funding from this to strengthen medical infrastructure. People should be cautious even if the incidence of corona infection is reduced in some places.
