"One Earth, One Health" - Prime Minister Modi's speech at the G7 Summit

  • The G7 consortium includes the United States, Britain, Canada, Italy, France, Germany and Japan. The G7 summit is being televised in Cornwall, UK. Prime Minister Modi has been invited to attend the conference on post-Corona world reconstruction as a special guest.

Goods Service Tax (GST) reduction for oxygen

  • A committee comprising state ministries was set up to look into the abolition of the goods-and-services tax on medical oxygen, pulse oximet, hand purifiers, essential medicines and oxygen concentrators.
  • The report presented by the committee was discussed at the GST meeting. It was finally agreed at the meeting to reduce the goods-and-services tax on pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.
  • Accordingly, the 5 per cent freight-service tax levied on dosilizumab, which is used to treat corona infections, and amphotericin-B, which is used to treat black fungus, has been abolished.
  • The 12 per cent goods-and-services tax levied on other drugs used in corona treatment, such as Remdecivo and Heparin, has been reduced to 5 per cent.
  • The freight-service tax on medical equipment, including medical oxygen, oxygen concentrators and respirators, has been reduced from 12 per cent to 5 per cent. The tax on corona test equipment has also been reduced to 5 percent.
  • The goods-and-services tax on pulse oximeters, hand sanitizers and body temperature test kits has also been reduced to 5 percent.

Rs 422 crore for Tamil Nadu in the agricultural mechanization project - Ministry of Agriculture
