• இந்திய பாதுகாப்பு ஆராய்ச்சி மேம்பாட்டு தொழிலகம் / DEFENCE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT: 1924 ஆம் ஆண்டில் குவாலியரில் அன்றைய அரசர் கனிமவள வாயில்களையும் காட்டு வளங்களையும் ஆராய்வதற்கென்று ஒரு ஆய்வகத்தை நிறுவினார்.
• 1947 ஆம் ஆண்டில் அப்போதைய முதலாம் ஆளுனராக செயல்பட்ட ராஜகோபாலாச்சாரி ஜீவாஜி தொழிலக ஆராய்ச்சி ஆயவகத்தைத் திறந்து வைத்தார். 
• 1966 ஆம் ஆண்டில் இந்திய அரசின் பாதுகாப்பு அமைச்சகம் இந்த ஆய்வகத்தை ஓர் அரசு ஆய்வகமாக மாற்றியமைத்தது. 
• அதன் ஆராய்ச்சி செயல்பாடுகள் பரவலாக விரிவடைந்த நிலையில், இந்த ஆய்வகத்தின் பெயரை ”இந்திய பாதுகாப்பு ஆராய்ச்சி மேம்பாட்டு தொழிலகம்” என மாற்றியமைத்தார்கள்.

ஆராய்ச்சி

• இந்திய பாதுகாப்பு ஆராய்ச்சி மேம்பாட்டு தொழிலகம் / DEFENCE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT: இத்தொழிலகம் நச்சுப்பொருட்களை கண்டறிந்து, அதற்கு எதிராக செயல்படக்கூடிய பாதுகாப்பான வழிமுறைகளை கண்டறிந்து பாதுகாக்க விழைகிறது.

• அதே போன்று உடலில் நோய் உயிரிகள் தாக்கினால் அதை விரைவாக கண்டறிவதற்கான சோதனைகளை மேற்கொண்டு கண்டறிதல், மற்றும் நோய் தடுப்பு முறைகளை செயல்படுத்துதல், மக்களுக்கு விழிப்புணர்ச்சி ஏற்படுத்தி தகுந்த பாதுகாப்பு முறைகளை வலியுறுத்துதல் போன்ற சேவைகளையும் வழங்கி வருகிறது.

• இது போல வணிக ரீதியில் செயல் படுத்திய திட்டங்களில் அடைப்பான் நோய் (Anthrax); டெங்கு அதிநுண்ணுயிர் காய்ச்சல்,(Dengue) கொள்ளைவாரி நோய்,(Plague) மலேரியா நோய்(Malaria) ஆகிய நோய்களை தடுப்பதற்கான மருந்துப் பெட்டிகள் தயாரித்து வழங்குதல் ஒரு முக்கியமான பணியாகும். 
• இதே போன்று பூச்சி கொல்லிகள், பூச்சிகளை விலக்கும் இரசாயனப் பொருட்கள், குடிக்கும் தண்ணீரின் தன்மையை சோதித்தறிதல், பிறகு குடிக்கும் தண்ணீரை சுத்தப்படுத்தி வழங்குதல், போன்ற செயல்பாடுகளும் அடங்கும். உயிரி பயங்கரவாதம் நடக்காமல் தடுப்பது, நடந்தால் பாதித்தவர்களுக்கு பாதுகாப்பான மருந்துகள் வழங்குதல், போன்ற ஆய்வுகளும் முக்கியமாகும் குவாலியரில் அமைந்துள்ளது

History

• DEFENCE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT: In 1924 the then King established a laboratory at Gwalior for the study of mineral deposits and forest resources.
• In 1947, Rajagopalachari Jivaji, the then first Governor, inaugurated the Industrial Research Commission.
• In 1966, the Ministry of Defense, Government of India converted the laboratory into a Government Laboratory.
• As its research activities expanded widely, the name of the laboratory was changed to "Indian Defense Research and Development Corporation".

Research

• DEFENCE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ESTABLISHMENT: The industry seeks to identify toxic substances and find safe ways to counter them. This laboratory carries out research in the fields of biology, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, virology and toxicology.
• It has been instructing the people about the methods and methods of knowing about harmful chemical substances and their characteristics, knowing the methods and controls to be safe from them.
• Similarly, it also provides services such as carrying out tests to quickly detect disease organisms in the body, and implementing disease prevention methods, creating awareness among people and emphasizing appropriate safety methods.

Gwalior is also an important research center for prevention of bio-terrorism and provision of safe medicines to victims.
• Keeping India's security in mind, researches on toxic substances, bio-toxic substances and toxic chemical compounds are being carried out to understand, identify their effects and use them to find and use the necessary technologies to fulfill the duties of life preservation.
• The industry' functions under the Directorate of Biodiversity under the Defense Research and Development Organisation. Currently, Dr. R. Varadarajan is working as its director.
