Appointment of Foreign Secretary
- Harsh Vardhan Shringla, former Union Foreign Secretary, will retire later this month.
- Vinay Mohan Quadra, 60, Nepal's envoy, has been appointed Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
- Vinay Mohan, who joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1988, served as the Indian Ambassador to France from 2017-2020.
- With 32 years of experience in Foreign Affairs, he also served as the Joint Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office from 2015 to 2017.
- Criminal Procedure Bill - Passed in the Lok Sabha
- The bill, which seeks to give the police the right to record biometric information about criminals and accused under the country's criminal procedure law, was tabled in the Lok Sabha last week.

- HDFC Bank merges with HDFC Bank

- Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu has been allotted Rs 3.06 crore till March 31, 2021 under the National Clean Air Program. As per the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission (2020-21), a total of Rs 233 crore has been allocated for Chennai, Rs 311 crore for Madurai and Rs 21 crore for Tiruchirappalli.
- Under the Air Quality Fund, Rs 91 crore has been allocated for Chennai, Rs 15 crore for Madurai and Rs 11 crore for Tiruchirappalli and a total of Rs 117 crore for Tamil Nadu.
