'Vetri Laptop Scheme' Launched with an Allocation of ₹2,000 Crore
- Laptops play a vital role in helping students enhance their technical knowledge, undergo skill-development training, engage in online learning, and prepare for future employment opportunities.
- Keeping this in mind, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru S. Joseph Vijay, has directed the implementation of the 'Vetri Laptop Scheme' announced in the 2026-2027 budget with an allocated fund of ₹2,000 crore.
- Following this, a Government Order (G.O.) has been issued, providing detailed operational guidelines and administrative sanction for the fund allocation.
- Under the 'Vetri Laptop Scheme', students in their first and second years of undergraduate (UG) and diploma programs for the 2026-2027 academic year enrolled in government and government-aided colleges across various disciplines, including Arts and Science, Engineering, Polytechnic, ITI, Medicine, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Agriculture, and Law will benefit.
