Chief Minister Vijay Launches 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme'
- The TVK government had announced that the 'Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme' originally launched by former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in 2022 would be expanded under the name 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme' to benefit students studying in classes 6 to 8 in government and government-aided schools.
- An additional fund of ₹217.63 crore has been allocated for this purpose in the 2026-2027 financial year, bringing the total allocation for the scheme to ₹724 crore.
- Against this backdrop, Chief Minister Vijay inaugurated the 'Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme' on Tuesday. He launched the initiative at the Chennai Middle School in Gandhi Gramam, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, where he served breakfast to the students and sat down to eat with them.
- 'Veer Guardian 2026,' a bilateral joint air force exercise between the Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, concluded at the Jodhpur Air Force Station on September 22, 2026.
- This exercise served as a crucial platform for enhancing coordination and strengthening strategic ties between the air forces of both nations.
- The Indian Air Force deployed various aircraft, including the Su-30 MKI, Rafale, and the indigenously manufactured light combat aircraft, Tejas. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force participated with F-2A fighter jets.
- The joint exercise was conducted over a period of 14 days. On the special guest day, General Takehiro Morita, Chief of Staff of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, and Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, flew the indigenously manufactured Tejas fighter aircraft at the Jodhpur Air Force Station.
