20th Asian Games – Day 1
- The 20th Asian Games kicked off in grand style yesterday at the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium in the Aichi-Nagoya region of Japan. Today, in the women's 10m air rifle events comprising both the individual qualification round and the team category India's Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsha Vinoth won the silver medal.
- This marked India's first medal of the current Asian Games. Subsequently, 27-year-old Elavenil Valarivan secured silver in the women's 10m air rifle individual event, finishing second with a score of 252.4 points.
- Japan's Hinata Daichi won the gold with a score of 253 points. With this, Elavenil achieved a remarkable feat by winning two medals in a single day.
