No Change in Repo Rate – RBI Governor Announces
- Based on decisions made during the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee meeting, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has officially announced that there will be no change to the repo rate.
- It has been stated that the 'repo rate' the interest rate at which the RBI lends to commercial banks will remain unchanged at 5.25 percent.
- As there is no change in the interest rate, there will be no increase in the monthly installment amounts for home, vehicle, and personal loans availed by the public.
- India's real GDP growth rate projection for the 2026-27 fiscal year has been raised to 6.7 percent from the earlier estimate of 6.6 percent. The inflation forecast for the first quarter of the current fiscal year has been lowered to 5 percent from the previously expected 5.1 percent.
- Economists state that this decision was taken because the country's economic growth is on a steady path and inflation remains under control.
