Former ISRO Chief S. Somanath Appointed as Director on RBI Board
- S. Somanath, the former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has been appointed as a part-time director on the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) board.
- Somanath, a space research expert who achieved numerous milestones during his tenure as ISRO Chairman and retired in January 2025, had been serving as the Chancellor of Chanakya University near Bengaluru.
- An official notification from the Union Government states that he has been appointed as a part-time non-official director on the RBI's Central Board for a four-year term, effective from the 20th of this month.
- Meanwhile, the tenure of prominent industrialist Anand Mahindra as a part-time director on the RBI board has also been extended for another four years.
