Hitachi Signs MoU with Tamil Nadu Government in the Presence of Chief Minister
- The Hitachi Group is a global Fortune 500 company. Hitachi Energy India Limited and Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited are subsidiaries of this group.
- In this context, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at an event organized by the Industries Investment Promotion and Commerce Department at the Chennai Secretariat.
- The agreement covers the expansion of the Hitachi Group’s Global Technology and Innovation Centre in Porur, Chennai, and the expansion of Hitachi Energy India’s manufacturing operations in Chengalpattu.
- This initiative is expected to attract an investment of ₹1,000 crore and create high-quality technical jobs for 1,000 people over the next 3 to 5 years.
- Under Section 39 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has designated the Natural History Museum at Mizoram University, Aizawl, as a recognized repository.
- Based on the recommendation of the National Biodiversity Authority and following a due review of the proposal, the Central Government announced this designation on June 19, 2026. With this announcement, the Natural History Museum becomes India's 21st recognized repository, further strengthening the nation's biodiversity conservation and scientific infrastructure.
- By preserving verified biological samples obtained under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, recognized repositories serve as a vital component of India's biodiversity governance framework.
