GST Collection for June 2026 is ₹1.95 Lakh Crore
- Total GST revenue for June 2026 rose to ₹1.95 lakh crore, marking a 13.9% increase compared to the previous year. The Ministry of Finance stated that the rise in tax collections on imports was the primary driver of this growth.
- In June 2025, total GST collection stood at ₹1.71 lakh crore. The growth in June indicates a strong recovery compared to the sluggish 3.2% growth recorded in May 2026.
- It is noteworthy that a higher growth rate of 16.4% had previously been recorded in May 2025. Import-related GST revenue was the key factor behind this surge. Import GST rose by 34.6% to ₹60,038 crore this year, up from ₹44,600 crore in the same month last year.
- In contrast, total GST revenue from domestic transactions grew at a moderate pace of 6.5%, reaching ₹1.35 lakh crore. This highlights the significant contribution of foreign trade to the overall rise in tax collections.
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 117.7 km greenfield highway between Kanpur and Kabrai in Uttar Pradesh.
- Under the National Highway project, this initiative a key component of the Bhopal-Kanpur economic corridor is being designed as a four-lane highway with provision for future expansion to six lanes.
- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will implement this project, valued at ₹7,145.14 crore, under the toll-based model. Additionally, it will undertake the operation and maintenance of the Kanpur-Kabrai section of National Highway 34.
- This project will ensure seamless, high-speed traffic between Kanpur and Kabrai while strengthening connectivity to Sagar, Bhopal, and other regions of Madhya Pradesh.
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 6-lane tunnel connecting the Dwarka Expressway with Nelson Mandela Marg in Delhi.
- The project, spanning 8.1 km, will be implemented at an estimated cost of ₹6,969.67 crore. It will establish rapid connectivity between West Delhi and South Delhi, benefiting traffic moving from Gurugram, Dwarka, and Indira Gandhi Airport towards South Delhi.
- The NHAI has proposed the construction of an elevated road between AIIMS and Mahipalpur. This connecting tunnel will link with the Barapullah elevated road, thereby connecting West and South Delhi with East Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Noida.
