Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launches 'Nalam TN' web service
  • Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched a new web service named 'Nalam TN' at an event held on Tuesday morning at the Presidency College auditorium in Chennai. The 'Nalam TN' portal enables donors ranging from corporate entities to the general public to easily make contributions to Tamil Nadu government hospitals.
  • Subsequently, on behalf of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, he handed over appointment orders to 751 Assistant Medical Officers and 1,393 Health Inspectors. He also inaugurated medical buildings worth ₹139.47 crore and launched the use of modern medical equipment.
Country's direct tax collection rises by 16.40% in the current 2026-27 fiscal year
  • According to official statistics released by the Union Ministry of Finance, the country's tax revenue has seen a significant increase compared to the previous fiscal year. 
  • Gross direct tax collection reached ₹7,73,681.68 crore by July 13 of the current fiscal year, marking a healthy growth of 16.11%. It is noteworthy that during the same period in the previous fiscal year (FY 2025-26), the gross tax collection stood at ₹6,66,337.20 crore.
  • After accounting for tax refunds, the net tax collection retained by the government recorded a massive growth of 16.40%.
  • Net corporate tax collection rose from ₹1,96,905.48 crore last year to ₹2,40,241.64 crore currently. Net tax collections from non-corporate personal income have risen to ₹3,84,521.23 crore.
  • Tax collections from Securities Transaction Tax (STT) on stock market investments have increased significantly to ₹26,428.96 crore, up from ₹17,875.88 crore in the previous year.
  • In the current fiscal year, up to July 13, a total of ₹1,22,491.87 crore has been refunded to taxpayers an increase of 14.57% compared to the previous year. During the same period last year, refunds amounted to only ₹1,06,912.48 crore.
