- Amidst the ongoing standoff between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka regarding the Mekedatu dam issue and the monthly water allocation for June, the 52nd meeting of the Cauvery Water Management Authority formally commenced today in the national capital, New Delhi.
- Chaired by S.K. Halder, the meeting sees officials from Tamil Nadu presenting their arguments in person to uphold the state's rights. Recognizing the importance of this meeting, the Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Sahu, and the Chairman of the Cauvery Technical Committee, Subramaniam, have traveled to Delhi to participate directly.
- Meanwhile, senior government officials and representatives from the Water Resources Departments of neighboring states Karnataka, Kerala, and Puducherry are participating in the meeting via video conferencing from their respective state capitals.
- The Tamil Nadu government continues to register its strong opposition to the Karnataka government's intensified efforts regarding the preliminary work for the proposed Mekedatu dam.
- Tamil Nadu officials have categorically insisted that the Mekedatu dam issue should not be included in the agenda for discussion under any circumstances.
