Successful Test of Advanced Agni Missile

  • On May 8, India conducted a successful flight test of an advanced Agni missile equipped with a Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) system from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
  • This missile was tested to fly with multiple payloads, targeting various objectives spread across a vast geographical area within the Indian Ocean Region. Telemetry and tracking operations were carried out by several ground-based and ship-based stations.
  • These systems monitored the entire trajectory of the missile, from its launch to the impact of all its payloads. Flight data confirmed that all mission objectives were successfully met during the test.
  • With this successful test, India has once again demonstrated its capability to target multiple objectives using a single missile system. This missile was developed by DRDO laboratories with the support of industries across the country.
