ஞானபீடம் விருது 2026 / GNANAPEEDAM AWARD 2026: இலக்கியத் துறையில் சாதனை படைத்தோருக்கு ஆண்டுதோறும் ஞானபீட விருது வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. நாட்டின் மிக உயர்ந்த இலக்கிய விருதாக ஞானபீடம் விருது கருதப்படுகிறது.
கடந்த 1961-இல் நிறுவப்பட்ட ஞானபீட விருது, முதன்முதலில் மலையாளக் கவிஞர் ஜி. சங்கர குருப்பிற்கு 1965-இல் 'ஓடக்குழல்' என்ற கவிதைத் தொகுப்பிற்காக வழங்கப்பட்டது.
அந்த வகையில், 60-வது ஞானபீட விருதுக்கு தமிழ்க் கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இதன் மூலம், 24 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு இந்த விருதைப் பெறும் தமிழர் என்ற பெருமையைப் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
முன்னதாக, 1975-ல் எழுத்தாளர் அகிலனுக்கும், 2002-ம் ஆண்டு எழுத்தாளர் ஜெயகாந்தனுக்கும் வழங்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. இதைத் தொடர்ந்து, கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளாக, ஞான பீட விருதுக்கு தமிழ் மொழி புறக்கணிக்கப்படுவதாகவும், செம்மொழியான தமிழுக்கு இதுவரை 2 ஞானபீட விருதுகள் மட்டுமே கிடைத்து வருவதாகவும் ஆதங்கம் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த சூழலில் தான், கவிஞர் வைரமுத்துவுக்கு 60-வது ஞானபீட விருது வழங்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து, 7 தேசிய விருதுகள், பத்ம ஸ்ரீ, பத்ம பூஷன் உட்பட பல்வேறு விருதுகளை பெற்றுள்ளார். கவிதை, நாவல், கட்டுரை என தமிழ் மொழிக்கு பங்காற்றிய கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து 10 நாவல்கள், 12 கவிதைத் தொகுப்புகளுக்கு என பல விருதுகளைப் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
வாழ்நாள் முழுமைக்குமான இலக்கியப் பங்களிப்பைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு ஞானபீடம் விருது வழங்கப்படுகிறது. தமிழில் இதுவரை 2 பேர் மட்டுமே இந்த விருதை பெற்றிருக்கின்றனர்.
இதற்கு முன்னர் கடந்த 1975ம் ஆண்டு எழுத்தாளர் அகிலன், அவரை தொடர்ந்து கடந்த 2002ம் ஆண்டு எழுத்தாளர் ஜெயகாந்தன் ஆகியோர் இந்த விருதை பெற்றிருக்கின்றனர்.

GNANAPEEDAM AWARD 2026: The Jnanpith Award is presented annually to individuals who have achieved excellence in the field of literature. The Jnanpith Award is regarded as the nation's highest literary honor.
Instituted in 1961, the Jnanpith Award was first conferred upon the Malayalam poet G. Sankara Kurup in 1965 for his poetry collection titled *Odakkuzhal*. In this context, the Tamil poet Vairamuthu has been selected for the 60th Jnanpith Award.
With this distinction, he holds the honor of being the first Tamilian to receive this award in 24 years. Previously, the award was conferred upon the writer Akilan in 1975 and the writer Jayakanthan in 2002.
Following this, in recent years, concerns had been raised that the Tamil language was being overlooked for the Jnanpith Award, and that Tamil—a classical language—had received only two Jnanpith Awards to date. It is against this backdrop that the 60th Jnanpith Award has been conferred upon poet Vairamuthu.
Poet Vairamuthu has received numerous accolades, including seven National Awards, the Padma Shri, and the Padma Bhushan. Having made significant contributions to the Tamil language across the genres of poetry, novels, and essays, Vairamuthu has garnered multiple awards for his body of work, which includes 10 novels and 12 poetry collections.
The Jnanpith Award is conferred in recognition of a lifetime of literary contributions. To date, only two individuals writing in Tamil have received this award: the writer Akilan in 1975, followed by the writer Jayakanthan in 2002.
