Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches nationwide HPV-Cervical Cancer Vaccination Campaign
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched a nationwide HPV-Cervical Cancer Vaccination Campaign for 14-year-old girls in Ajmer, Rajasthan. This is a historic initiative by the Central Government against cervical cancer in India.
- The Indian Navy continues to enhance its warship capabilities. As part of this, INS Anjadeep, a state-of-the-art warship capable of detecting and precisely attacking enemy submarines, was dedicated to the nation at a ceremony held at the Chennai Port.
- It is one of the indigenously designed and manufactured anti-submarine 'shallow water' warships. Built with 80 percent indigenous materials under the Self-Reliant India programme, the ship is capable of detecting and destroying enemy submarines operating in shallow coastal areas.
- Built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, the ship is specially designed to operate in coastal and shallow sea environments. Built at a cost of about Rs 780 crore, the warship is expected to play a key role in protecting India's exclusive economic zone and long coastline.
- The ship, which is about 77 meters long, is powered by a high-speed water-jet propulsion system and can travel at a speed of 25 knots. It is equipped with state-of-the-art sonar systems, lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine missiles and advanced combat management systems. The ships are also capable of conducting patrol, surveillance, search and rescue operations.
