Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches nationwide HPV-Cervical Cancer Vaccination Campaign
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched a nationwide HPV-Cervical Cancer Vaccination Campaign for 14-year-old girls in Ajmer, Rajasthan. This is a historic initiative by the Central Government against cervical cancer in India.
INS Anjadeep Warship Dedicated to the Nation
  • The Indian Navy continues to enhance its warship capabilities. As part of this, INS Anjadeep, a state-of-the-art warship capable of detecting and precisely attacking enemy submarines, was dedicated to the nation at a ceremony held at the Chennai Port.
  • It is one of the indigenously designed and manufactured anti-submarine 'shallow water' warships. Built with 80 percent indigenous materials under the Self-Reliant India programme, the ship is capable of detecting and destroying enemy submarines operating in shallow coastal areas.
  • Built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, the ship is specially designed to operate in coastal and shallow sea environments. Built at a cost of about Rs 780 crore, the warship is expected to play a key role in protecting India's exclusive economic zone and long coastline.
  • The ship, which is about 77 meters long, is powered by a high-speed water-jet propulsion system and can travel at a speed of 25 knots. It is equipped with state-of-the-art sonar systems, lightweight torpedoes, anti-submarine missiles and advanced combat management systems. The ships are also capable of conducting patrol, surveillance, search and rescue operations.
Jammu and Kashmir wins Ranji Trophy for the first time
  • In this match against Karnataka, the Jammu and Kashmir team played very well in everything from batting to bowling to win the Ranji Trophy for the first time. In this match held in Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 584 runs in the first innings.

  • Kamran Iqbal scored 160 runs and Sahil Lodra scored 101 runs in the second innings. Although the match ended in a draw, the Jammu and Kashmir team, which scored more runs in the first innings, was declared the winner of the trophy.
  • Jammu and Kashmir team has created history by winning its first Ranji Trophy, advancing to the final for the first time after 67 years. Shubham Bandir and Aaqib Nabi Dhar have been selected as the player of the match and the player of the series. It is noteworthy that both of them are from the Jammu and Kashmir team.
Appointment of S.A. Dharmadhikari as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court
  • The collegium committee headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Suryakant met two days ago and took various important decisions. Accordingly, it has been recommended that Judge S.A. Dharmadhikari, who is serving in the Kerala High Court, be appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
  • Subsequently, it is learned that he will take the oath of office if the Union Law and Justice Minister approves this move. In this, the current Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Manindra Mohan Vastava, will retire on March 5. 
  • Therefore, it is learned that Dharmadhikari will take charge from March 6. Similarly, Haryana High Court Judge Lisa Gill has been nominated as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of nine lawyers, including Mohammed Nadeem Seraj, as judges of the Patna High Court.
