MOU signed for a massive AI factory on 300 acres in Sriperumbudur
- Leading construction company L&T and world’s largest chip manufacturer NVIDIA have signed an agreement to set up a massive artificial intelligence infrastructure called ‘AI Factory’ in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.
- The MoU was signed at the ongoing AI conference in Delhi. As part of the already operational ‘L&T Cloudfiniti’ data center in Sriperumbudur, state-of-the-art NVIDIA GPU infrastructure will be installed, increasing its capacity to 30 MW.
- ‘NVIDIA GPUs’ are a key component of a computer. They can perform billions of calculations per second and run AI software at lightning speed. This AI center, which will be built on an area of 300 acres, will store and process India's important data and information securely within India, without going abroad.
- Like Chennai, an agreement has been signed between L&T and Nvidia to set up an AI data center in Mumbai.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the events of the summit on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi this morning. Prime Minister Modi was joined by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva at the inaugural ceremony.
- Prime Minister Modi is holding bilateral talks with the leaders of various countries participating in this conference. Further, there will be a discussion on the national and global needs of AI technology, including governance, infrastructure, and international cooperation.
