Cabinet Meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin 2026
- A cabinet meeting commenced at the Chennai Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. With the first session of the year scheduled to begin on the 20th, the meeting discussed the points to be included in the Governor's address.
- Discussions also took place regarding attracting new industrial investments, holding an investors' conference, and implementing various schemes. A new scheme called "Tell Us Your Dream" was approved.
- Under this scheme, public opinion will be sought on how their street and village should be, what kind of new projects should be implemented, suggestions to further improve existing schemes, dreams for their district, and the dreams of overseas Tamils. The Chief Minister will launch this scheme on January 9th in Ponneri, Thiruvallur district.
- Furthermore, the Tamil Nadu Cabinet has approved the Tamil Nadu Guaranteed Pension Scheme. Approval has also been given for 4 industrial investments. With the first session of the year set to begin on the 20th with the Governor's address, discussions were held on the points to be included in the Governor's address, and important decisions were made.
- The Union Minister, participating in an event in the national capital Delhi, released 184 new varieties of 25 crops developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
- Following this, he stated that India, with a rice production of 150.18 million tons, has surpassed its neighboring country China to become the world's largest rice producer. He mentioned that China's rice production stands at 145.28 million tons.
