World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2025
  • The International Chess Federation's championship tournaments were held in Doha, the capital of Qatar. On the final day, the challenging Blitz competition took place. In the decisive match, Norwegian chess star Magnus Carlsen defeated Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan with a score of 2.5-1.5. Indian player Arjun Erigaisi won the bronze medal.
  • In the women's Blitz Championship, Bibisara Assaubayeva of Kazakhstan emerged victorious. Earlier, Carlsen had also won the Rapid Championship title. In this event too, Indian player Arjun Erigaisi secured the 3rd place. 
  • In the women's category, Indian player Humpy Koneru won the bronze medal. With these victories, Carlsen has won the World Championship title for the 20th time. He was awarded a prize of Rs. 74 lakhs.
Union Cabinet approves project for construction of service roads on both sides of the existing two-lane carriageway of National Highway 326 in Odisha
  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved the project for the construction of service roads on both sides of the existing two-lane carriageway of National Highway 326 in Odisha, along with strengthening and widening of the existing carriageway.
  • The total capital expenditure for this project is Rs. 1,526.21 crore, which includes a construction cost of Rs. 966.79 crore. The upgradation of National Highway No. 326 will ensure faster, safer, and more reliable travel on this route and will contribute to the overall development of the southern Odisha region. 
The Union Cabinet approves a 374-kilometer, 6-lane highway project worth Rs. 19,142 crore in Maharashtra
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved a project to construct a 374-kilometer-long six-lane highway on the Nashik – Kolhapur – Akkalkot route in Maharashtra. 
  • The total capital expenditure for this project is Rs. 19,142 crore. This infrastructure project is a significant step in road transport under the principles of the Prime Minister's Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
  • The construction of this road will reduce travel time from 31 hours to 11 hours. Furthermore, this route will provide safe, fast, and uninterrupted connectivity for both passengers and freight vehicles. 
  • The construction will directly create 251.06 lakh man-days of employment and indirectly 313.83 lakh man-days of employment.
