Cyclone Titva
  • As the northeast monsoon has begun, Cyclone Titva has formed in the Bay of Bengal. It is reported that this storm will move towards the north-northwest direction through the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Sri Lankan coast and may move towards the north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the adjacent south Andhra Pradesh coast by the early morning of the 30th.
  • Due to this, a warning of heavy rain has been issued for the coastal districts, Cauvery basin districts, and the north coastal districts. In particular, a red alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu for two days.

  • Stating that the Skyroot Infinity Campus reflects India's new thinking, innovation and youth power, he said that the youth of the country have reached new heights in innovation, hard work and entrepreneurship.
Country's first inland shipping management system - developed at IIT Chennai
  • Researchers at the National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC) of IIT Chennai have developed the country's first inland shipping management system for ports and brought it to use at the Villinjam International Port in Kerala.
  • The system has been fully developed based on the requirements of the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. In particular, it eliminates the risk of leakage of strategically important data of the operation of domestically operated ships. 
  • It will also provide appropriate solutions to various challenges, fast track innovations and reduce other operational financial risks associated with dealing with private vendors. The system will provide a major boost to indigenization of technology and expertise in the Indian maritime sector by covering minimum usage and maintenance costs and will also reduce dependence on imports.
